Ok dizzy, I think it's time for an intervention. First you show up with a new lincoln and now you're looking at morgans? What gives? What happened to commems?
Less than 7/8 colored, doesn't have the "money" colors of deep blue and green in abundance-- worth a premium over the sheet, perhaps 50% added. Worth an offer perhaps if you really like it.
An 1879 S MS66 go's for about $450.00. No one can tell you what the value of this coin is, as to a toned collector each one has its own merits. Whats beautiful to you may be common to me or visa versa. Just from your original statement, this coin is a thing of beauty to you, thus whatever price you want to pay to own it is acceptable. "life is too short, just buy the dam coin"
Nice coin, dizzyfoxx. Adrian has some top-shelf material and they are priced accordingly. If you really like it, make him an offer....... Just remember that the only opinion that really matters is your own, as you are the one who will end up owning it. BTW, my nicest coins are the ones I had to reach for a little. This little beauty came from the snakeman, and the coin is better than the image!
That is a pretty coin. As stated the price is a bit rich but make an offer with which you are comfortable. (I had to write it that way cause Russ is now correcting grammer, not just spelling ) But remember that nicely toned morgans are much more common than nicely toned commems. In fact, they are very common.
The coin is way overgraded IMO, add to that my ambivolent stance on toinig and the coin is way overpriced. But as others have stated its your cash spend it the way you like.
The color is nice, the cheek marks are not nice for the grade, and the price I think way too high. For that kind of money you can buy something much more scarce, like a nicely toned Classic Commem.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

<< <i>I like it, but I don't like it for $1500........
Seems a tad steep, even for a boooooooner toner!
Were I you, I would keep looking for just the right toner for a reasonable price. Now, on the other hand, if money's no object...
