Who knows what the future holds...

...but as of right NOW, post a coin that you think is a permanent fixture in your collection, and explain why. Here's mine- because I don't think I will find another Alabama with any decent toning, not to mention what I consider very attractive toning.

Yeah, it's ugly, but probably my best find ever. First coin I pulled out of a zip lock bag of corroded Indian Head pennies that belonged to my father's late uncle.
    US Navy CWO3 retired. 12/81-09/04

    Looking for PCGS AU58 Washington's, 32-63.

  • I'm not a seller of coins. I will only sell if I upgrade my collection.

This 39-D $5 (single year Dahlonega type) in MS62 is the second finest known and can't be upgraded anytime soon. The only other MS62 that I believe to be the finest known is in strong hands.

This 39-D $2.5 (another single year Dahlonega type) in AU50 has without a doubt the most impressive original skin I have ever seen on a Dahlonega piece. It has been pedigreed to the early 1950s as offered in a Stacks auction. I have the flip from the auction, as well as the auction catalog. Although it could easily be upgraded in grade, it can not be upgraded in appeal.

  • You people are so lucky you can take pictures of your coins. People like me miss out on most of the fun because we're dumb dumb when it comes to taking pictures. Nice coins so far everybody!!!!

The 1801 dollar which is the scarcest date of the heraldic dollars is almost impossible to find today in high grade and a bigger plus if you can locate one that has attractive original toning and having not been cleaned in the past. I feel very fortunate to have this keystone coin in my collection.
