I have a Nikon! I'm big time now.
I'd been waiting for the Coolpix 950 to drop below $100, and it has. Picked one off for $91. Right off the bat, I like it - if for no other reason than the fact that the memory card capacity is so much higher than the Ricoh. I can shoot a TON of images all at once. It also has far more customizable settings than the Ricoh.
One irritating thing, though. The memory card slot is located right next to the tripod mounting hole so the camera has to be unbolted from the copy stand in order to remove it. Kind of a hassle, but since I can shoot 129 images on a 64MB card, (versus 25 images on an 8MB card with the Ricoh), I'll live with it.
Now, for some images.

And, of course, the obligatory cameo Kennedy:

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
For my education, what bare the scratches on the Lincoln? Are they indication of anything in particular?

Sounds like it's time to graduate to a 1 Gig card, or at least 512 MB - the 512's are cheap right now.

<< <i>I'm not seeing the red tint from the reveal bulbs either. >>
Yeah, the white balance is a lot more customizable on this camera.

Max it'll use is 256MB. I'll probably grab one.

Nice camera!!!
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
<< <i>Russ, is the '67 Kennedy the same one as your birthmark one in your sigline? If so, it did one heck of a better job on the details than your Ricoh.....it even picked up marks in the fields that your previous image doesn't show. >>
Nope. It's a raw one that grades MS64CAM. The one in my sig is a PCGS MS67DCAM.

1) Are you using a macro mode with your new Nikon?
2) I am impressed with the photo sharpness, are you manually focusing or using an autofocus mode?

<< <i>1) Are you using a macro mode with your new Nikon? >>
Yep, shot in macro. Some variance in metering, though. For example, the Lincoln was shot with it set to Center Weight metering, while the toned Frankie was shot set to Matrix.

Set to auto focus, but some images were done using BSS (Best Shot Selection). Hold the button for multiple shots and the camera automatically picks and saves the best from the group.
