Seanq, I sent a coin to ANACS that had been whizzed. It came back with a label which said "AU DETAILS NET EF-40" You scored a higher grade with your cleaned coin. Nice. Is there a difference between whizzed and cleaned?
<< <i>My latest coin purchase was just a 1909 VDB. I bought it for $8.00 and when I got it home (I bought it in Mesa AZ and I live in Roseville CA) I realized that it was blatantly cleaned like crazy.

Whizzing is done with a brush or rotary tool.
Cleaning can include overdipping and rubbing with a cloth.
Polishing is also distinguished.

1. an NGC MS64 1927-P Saint (my first gold coin, it is very nice and the dealer I bought it from thought it could 65 when he sent it in for slabbing);
2. a high grade CAM 1969 quarter sitting in an original proof set; and
3. a high grade CAM 1964 half doller (not AH) sitting in an original proof set.
The two proofs sets set me back $15.00 total. A couple of nice cherries.

Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.
Here's my latest, still in guess-the-grade stage, so I'll save that tidbit for now...Mike

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
Coin looks quite nice in person, nice toning.. always wanted one of these scarce halves from the 1880's.. this one had a mintage of 4400, 1100 of them proofs. It's not often that I find these at all, much less at such a low price being it's a lowly PR-58.

Well, I almost purchased a roll of West Virginia quarters at a flea market while on a weekend in Kentucky but the village idiot dealer behind the table told me, very rudely, I DON'T HAVE ANY - YOU'RE 5 MINUTES LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT. Needless to say, I walked away, pretty mad but got over it.
Go that way.
