You know, every time I see a post of yours I wonder why your icon is not a Peace dollar? Congrats on the x-overs!

  • Thanks. Icon has been with me since day one... Too lazy to update it I guess... maybe I'll put a closeup of a VAM there some day.... The crossovers and reholders took the same time. My "regular + VAM" submission was almost 15 business days, not too bad. My reholder (25 VAM 5) was never entered into their computer... it drove me nuts... finally made it to their system 19 days after they received it only to have it show "shipped" on the 20th day....? At least it wasn't lost... image I know some of these coins weren't a big surprise to many of you because I post almost everything I get in image but they did have to cross....

Some other coins on the shelf waiting to be submitted/reholdered include....

    1922 12A Mustache MS-64 (NGC)
    1922 2F Hair pin MS-64 (PCGS)
1923 1F Chin Bar MS-64 (not sure it will cross... looking for a higher grade)
1923 1E Broken Wing MS-62 Raw for now.... (1 of 3 Top 50 coins with a weight of 7. All others are lower)
  • Nice coins. You're going to lock up that top spot for sure. Will be a tough challenge to get a set to run against those VAMs!

  • Thanks Rob. I truely believe that a VAM set is the HARDEST type of set to put together.... think about it... If I had $ 200,000, I could go out and buy a MS-65/6+ Peace $ set in a few weeks... I'd be done and have a top 10 set.... You could NEVER do that with VAM's... My guess is that I'l be at this a very long time.... especially knowing that there WILL be problems with crossovers.... Example... I know there are a couple 1924 MS-67 5A's out there in NGC holders.... BUT... Do you drop $4500 to see if it will cross to PCGS in 7.... ? Do you want to own a PCGS MS-66 5A for $ 4500? No of course you dont.... so... do you then build a NGC set... ? There's the catch..... and the major reason this set just may be tough to run with..... O, and I'm always watching for upgrades too... image

I agree. VAMS are a die variety and condition rarity. Both must be served to put together a top set.
  • Way to go, Steve. image
