I don't usually play eBay "detective" but tell me what you think of these two auctions---&

They're both for the same date Jefferson---1971-S PR69DCAM, listed by the same seller and seem to show the same picture----cleverly disguising the insert number!!!!! seems to me like the bozo is playing both ends against the middle and will probably cancel one/both depending on where the bids go. What do you guys think??
Here's the first one that ends on September 26th.
Then this one ends on September 27th.
Looking at pictures from the two listings, it's clear that they're the same coin.

Check my ebay BIN or Make Offers!!
1) Ask the seller, who certainly KNOWS the answer, but whose word you would be reluctant to accept.
or
2) Ask the forum, who can't possibly know the answer, but whose combined feedback you are (more) likely to believe.
or
3) 1+2 above
I sent an email to the seller just for fun, and will post his reply, if forthcoming.

Thanks for your reply to an earlier question. What I'd like to see in lieu of an insert number is a picture of the actual coin that I'm bidding on, not a stock picture which shows the same image for each listing. Can you provide individual pictures so that I know what the coin looks like that I'm actually bidding on?? Thanks again.

he then responded with the following message:
Upon looking at the scan the coins inside are 1970 and not 1971. PCGS made a mistake. The label says 1970 and the coin inside is 1970. I just noticed this and now I have to send the coins back to get them re slabbed. Sorry for the confusion.

to be honest, i'm now not certain if i believe the seller even has one example of either date, 1970-S or 1971-S, in a PCGS MS69DCAM holder. i received a cancelled bid notice for the first item and the following is now listed with both items-----The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing.

but in using the same picture I would like to tell a short story
I sent 102 Wide AM Lincolns to PCGS for grading (bulk) with a minimum grade of MS66 (okay, I am new and learned quickly how rare MS66 can be, especially with carbon spotting). I was contacted by the friendly staff of Mr Hall's advising me that they won't make that grade (at least not 60% of them) and would I drop to 63 for my minimum ? I declined and had them sent back.
Since that time, I have sold about fifteen on ebay, sent 8 back in with the higher priced grading cost (7 came back MS64, and 1 MS65), then I took one pic of a "raw" one in my possession and use it as a stock photo with disclosure that coin pictured is a mere representation, but that they are guaranteed by me to be at least MS63. I never cover up PCGS numbers , though I understand the security caution if one does.
It is good to scrutinize, and this thread makes me wonder if there are any stories about me here prior to my "official" arrival
However, in the case of someone with lots of feedback especially when they are coins (dealers), I understand trying to get the most exposure with the least cost involved. Heck, admit it folks... it is not cheap getting our coins graded and attempting to gain the greatest profit without leaving a collector feeling a bit ripped off. On the same token, I lose lots of profit by listing with No Reserve and Never a BUY NOW price (suckers beware, I'm one of them sometimes). It might be worth $750 to someone, but us collectors and dealers ( thats right, you snipes out there reading this are one of them)... are savvy to the business overall.
With that said: Keets, he may have made an honest mistake in his listing, or he took your letter as a threat (cuz he may not be totally honest and forthright) and had to backpeddle (cancelling auction and tellin' a lil white lie). But all in all, I have enjoyed a lot of yours and others' "writings" here and am the wiser collector/dealer for it
...and one more thing, what is TTT ???
