To the knucklehead brigade of Axtell and jad22 who=dgbaseball.

I don't see where I said Munson should be it the HOF. Please show me where I said that. You are having your fun teeing off on me. I simply responded to the post...as someone who experienced Munson's career first- hand, in NY. That is what the thead was about - wasn't it? Go back and read the thread - mensas.

You clowns just want to slime up the thread with your anti-NY and your anti-WTF views. Congratulations to you. I hope you have now fulfilled yourselves. image

It is pretty funny that people can't take any comments that are deemed unfavorable of the NY Yankees and their overrated players. Munson does not belong in the hall of fame. Munson just wasn't good enough and he had many years in baseball, some people here are just being absurd.

Ralph Kiner had a short carreer and he is hall of famer. That is because he was good and not overrated. He did not need petitions to get himself into the hall because he deserved to be there.

That is what the thead was about - wasn't it

No. Seriously - Or at least at first it wasn't. It was an opened ended question about Munson. And maybe I brought it to this level by responding to Lothar's first response about "after reading the stats, put Munson in the hall" comment with my thoughts. I thought I responded appropriately, but it all quickly deteriorated into Yankee/Red Sox BS now being carried on in the other thread.

I though the originator wanted to get some opinions about Munson, which is exactly the question of the thread topic. I for one am not trying to have any fun screwing with anyone, unless of course I am called a ROOKIE PRETTY-BOY again by some arrogant dink, in which case I honestly can't stop laughing.

These threads are fantastic. It's amazing how people react, sitting at a computer, free to type whatever they want. NO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I SAID. YES I DO. NO YOU DON'T! Back and forth. It's so ridiculous. When people don't read what they want to read, they sit, and they come up with the perfect response, then they read it again, then they edit it, then it's ready and they post it, then they get responses, and someone is missing the point, or someone responds sarcastically, then you do it all again. And it builds and it builds. UNTIL SOMEONE STARTS TYPING IN CAPS BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU TO KNOW THEY'RE YELLING AT YOU NOW!

    Sheer comedy.

Anyways, Lothar, please go F yourself. Act and post intelligently, and not like a child.

The rest of you, keep buying my baseball cards image

I have an LLC which I like, much simpler accounting than a C Corporation I believe.
  • Options
    mike,

We are an Inc. although our tax status is that of an S-corp - to avoid paying double taxes on income as the corp and owners. There are two of us. As it was explained to us, the only major difference (in MA anyways) between a LLC and Inc has to do with limitations on # and country of origin of investors and things like that, none of which is an issue for us. Tax status is essentially the same, since we don't pay salaries or any of that. I do the books myself, just keeping track of every transaction, fees, shipping, supplies etc. Haven't been through a tax season yet, but according to my lawyer who set it all up, that should suffice and our taxes should be pretty simple. Plus the inc was a little cheaper in registration/annual renewal fees here in MA.

I don't know how an LLC works but I have to file both corporate and franchise tax along with my personal income tax.

All this to protect myself from something that may never happen. I think the liability thing is over emphasized in some cases.

Well, I'm stuck with it for now.

sorry - I know this is OT hijack but this thread has probably ran its course?

Yes, c-corp (again speaking from what I know in MA, and from what I've been told) is very different. Basically, the company pays income tax, as do the owners, each year. It's mostly used for companies paying salaries and/or owner dividends and can get rather confusing.

What was the main "selling point" for you and your partner to form a corp vs. a simple proprietary partnership?

To be honest (and admittedly stupid), our lawyer made that decision. He's a tax lawyer, who is also a good friend of us both, and picked the company structure assuring us it was the simplest and cheapest approach given what we want to do. Thus far, it's been fine. This is only part time for me, so the cheapest fees and simplest accounting were key. We collect sales tax and pay every qtr, and have a bunch of shares we can sell when we go public and become millionaires. We do about 3K in sales each month, so it's not too difficult to keep track.

    Well,

If anybody here is still interested in following Lothar's initial post, here's another article...written by a lifelong Yankee fan, who was deeply saddened by the news of Munson's death...but still ended up saying, "HOFer? not too certain about that."

    Good read, thanks Chris.

I wish the Hockey Hall of Fame was more strict as to who gets in or not.. even a guy like HHOFer Ace Bailey I don't think deserves to be in the HHOF..
In his seven and a half seasons, Bailey totalled 111 goals and 82 assists in 313 games. (big woop) His #6 jersey is one of only two to have been permanently retired by the Maple Leafs. (why?) Did they do all this for him out of pity because his career came to an abrupt end when he was checked from behind by Eddie Shore? Ridiculous if so..

I firmly believe Munson would have left the Yankees the first chance he had. He hated George and probably drooled at the thought of
playing for Cleveland some day. He hated New York City and that is why he would fly home to Ohio whenever he had the chance.
That being said, there is the possibility that he would have eventually faded into obscurity after he left New York. he still might have complied some good stats and may have eventually wound up with the best batting average a catcher ever had. Man, could he hit. He was money in the bank. I am sorry to hear that he was a jerk to fans, but he probably let his hatred for NY affect everything how he dealt with fans. He hated Reggie Jackson but could not deny the fact that Reggie played a big part in the World Series wins.
Like allot of people here, his 1971 Topps card is my favorite baseball card. I have at least 7 copies of it in all different grades. My dream is to own the PSA 9 of this card.

As a child, I hated Fisk, especially after he brawled with Lou Pinella at home plate. As I grew older and my love for baseball expanded, I eventually admired Fisk for his work ethic. He was some athlete. He kept himself in great shape and that enabled him to play well for many years.

I am almost hoping they play a one game playoff in New York next Monday. How awesome would that be !!!!!

Shut up jad. It's over. Go choke the chicken.

Stone - thanks for the rescue. I'm an LLC. Due to the fact I filed my articles of organization with the state as the sole partner, I'm treated for all intents and purposes (taxwise) as a sole proprietor. Can file sch C at tax time...yet better protected due to the LLC. Don't need a tax ID# either. Fastidiuos recordkeeping required though. Regards.
