I posted this same coin a week ago. I think these new pictures show the coin a little better.

She needs a dip, but I would be scared to do it.
Looks like an NCS candidate to me.
Conserved or as-is, it's a helluva nice coin.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
edited to add: I can't tell what's going on below the neck.

Nice find.

I believe this coin has some sort of striking issues. The center of the main devices, especially on the obverse are extremely weak, but the denticiles, stars and all of the lettering is super strong. Even the outer areas of the main devices have great detail.

slack. I think it's a decent coin, but I don't feel it's completely original. Then we get into what's "completely" original.
My first thought upon viewing your image was XF-40. Don't know if you're interested but here is my O-105a model.
I'm not saying it compares to your coin but thought I'd post it. PCGS says.... VF-25 on mine.
The greysheet price is $260 in VF and jumps to $850 in XF. I really need this coin to XF at the TPGS.
The sharpness grade is EF-45. I'd net it to EF-40.
Most of these 1807 half dollars were softly struck from shallow dies. The hair details as well as the "E Pluribus Unium" on the reverser were not much sharper when this coin was Mint State. I think that the mint was doning this to conserve the dies. You will sell see sharply struck 1807 half dollars now and then, but they are unusual.
Heck, if it comes back in an xf/45 holder, I wouldn't be surprised one bit, although the images don't lead me to think the coin has enough "pop" to grab the extra 5 points.
And don't even consider "dipping" this coin.

<< <i>That is a very attractive 1807 Overton 105. PCGS is somewhat brutal on these and they might BB it for the rim ding above LIB. I think PCGS could go XF40 or XF45 but don't be surprised by a VF35. It is a lock XF40 or better at NGC.
Nice find. >>
Couldn't have said it better myself.
