    Marty:

What truly irritates me about your situation is that eBay NARUs you but it took forever to get the Savannah scammer NARU'ed. And then, even after she had snuck back on several times, I believe the ultimate resolution has been that she is still selling on eBay. I sometimes wonder what eBay's workers think is their goal. It sure doesn't look like providing a safe marketplace is high on their list of priorities.

Best of luck in getting your issues quickly worked out to your satisfaction.

If the reason for being booted is the link posted than that is ridiculous. There are outright crooks on EBAY that even after being exposed, still ply their trade there. Let us know Marty after EBAY sets things right.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • Might have something to do with Marty's buddy another ebay shaker and mover who just happens to bid in a very shady way, all for guess who? This person is also no longer a registered user. I brought up his shill bidding for marty several months ago and everyone blowed it off. Even EBAY at that time. I guess it got so bad even they could no longer look the other way.

Before jumping to conclusions, shouldn't we wait to see what happens at ebay? Wouldn't it be helpful to have all the facts, including even knowing confirming what the real issue is before reaching a conclusion?

Here was Marty's reply above: Let's just say an appeal has been filed and I really don't want to talk about it.

Yes Oilydog, but it is under appeal. But they did say someone filed a complaint. Now I guess I know who it was. Jerry happends to be a very good customer and he was given a bad shake as well. Maybe Russ will be next because I bid on his auctions all the time. There were no paypal rules broken, it's just that someone complained and E-Bay always takes the side until the process is complete.

  • Marty, I hope you and Jerry get it straightened out and get back in business soon.

  • You are wrong Marty. I did not file a complaint with EBAY this time. I did file one months ago, but EBAY canned it with a message that they found nothing wrong. Someone else must have complained again or probably lots of folks. I did not refile. I did not care. I just quit bidding on your auctions. But I do think you had a chance to stop this and you did not. You should have told Jerry to stop bidding on your auctions long ago. This reason you should have told him this is because you had a self admitted business association with him on EBAY. It was the day after reading your thread about you and Jerry having this association that I bid on one of you auctions and then Jerryo bid over me on the auction. That is when my memory flashed back and all it took was a quick bidder search on EBAY and whamo Jerryo never bid on any coin but from you. That was months ago. Quite frankly I had forgotten about it until now. I am actually sorry you did not take the opportunity to have Jerryo cease and desist. Even if he was doing it on his own and not with your consent, you could have stopped it.

In that case I would not be able to bid on half the people’s coins here! Jerry pays for every coin he has ever won from me! Just because we are friends has nothing to do with it. A lot of the coins I sell have no published price, if he wants to lowball them that is his right! There are a number of board members here I know and I bid on their auctions all the time also. That happens when you have a close knit community. There have been board members who have shown interest in a coin I had, but it was a pop 1 so there really is no price. It goes on E-Bay. I have refused to sell coins outright on because of that. Out of all the coins Jerry has bought he returned ONE. Copies of the check have been forwarded to E-Bay as well. If you don't want to bid on my auctions that is up to you. But you accused me publicly of shill bidding and being an auction fraud, and until the process is complete I would appreciate if you would keep your accusations to yourself.

my experience with eBay is that if you get NARU'd you'll have to sit out of the game for 30 days and then they'll reinstate you. e-mails to SafeHarbor are a waste of time.

evidentally eBay saw a pattern that alerted them after a complaint was filed. if the assertions made by oilydog about the myopic bidding of self-admitted buddy Jerry are truthful, then Marty is now residing on his duff much like the proverbial one-legged man at an ass-kickin' contest for good reason!!!!image take it in stride, MadMan. rest up and rethink things. do you seriously think you need help from Jerry or other friends for your auctions to run successfully and reward you?? if you do, perhaps you need to be more clever.image

of course, if you're being wronged, sail on and don't change a thing.

I wonder whose Alt ID this oilydog is? Too bad he doesn't at least have the stones to make his accusations under his real forum handle.

well, he might be an alt, but then he might not. there are several members who are infrequent posters and only show up when it suits them. it should be easy enough for you to track him if you really want to, shouldn't it??
  • keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
    hey Craig

that same accusation could have been leveled at Russ when he first came here. knowing how to navigate a site isn't grounds for accusations, either. a bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

oilydog may be an alt ID and he may be a coward. the forum is home for more of both than we'd like to admit. some alt ID's are shared by several members. oh well, i guess that just makes us a microcosm of life.image
  • It was longer than a few months ago. March something or other. This is the thread where Marty talks about his relationship to an ebay seller. Of course the auction has long been flushed from ebay but rest assured that it was jerryo. After this I found out by accident that this person only bid on marty's coins. I complained and then was rebuffed by ebay. I then forgot all about this mess until of course now. I say if the shoe fits then wear it. This is all I will say about this subject. thread about connection to ebay seller

  • OK.........
I'm probably one of only 3-4 board members that has met BOTH Marty & Jerry.......... They are 2 different human beings, with Jerry being slightly more "different" than Marty...... We all laugh and joke and kid around here, but in this case, EBAY is just plain wrong........... I got your back Madman image

BTW......... As proof of Jerry's frugality, I watched him haggle with a 10 year old kid over $3 on a $15 Bufallo nickel !!!!!!! And Jerry was the BUYER !!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem with at logic is that I see a lot of coins to a lot of forum members. Many of them I also bid on their auctions and they bid on mine. We collect COINS here... When I talked to E-bay yesterday they said a complaint was filed last spring and that totally confused me. Now I know what happend. I know what triggered the suspension, it was a dumb error on my part. But just because I let someone else use my laptop is not a reason for a suspension, but because there was a complaint my account was flagged. Jerry doesn't even know he was suspended, he left for vacation yesterday morning. He called and told me if I win anything, hold them until I get back. Boy is he in for a shock when he gets back!

Hey Russ, I had bids on all your stamps! Maybe you're next!!!

Yikes, so do I understand the bids from Jerryyo were made from Madmarty's laptop??? All of them over a long period of time, or just one every now and then???
