PCGS submission processing question (additional questions added, paging Russ ;) )
I mailed two Express submissions on the same day, at the same time, and both were received the same day by PCGS and entered into their system on the same day (the next day after they were received, of course). The submissions contained 3 and 4 coins of identical aggregate value and coins of the same general type (No Motto dated gold--big surprise!) for crossover service. The submissions have consecutive order numbers. The first lot was processed with the grades posted and the coins mailed back yesterday. The second lot has not yet been finalized (at least not per the "Submission Status" check).
Any explanation why these two submissions, which IMO should have been graded consecutively, may have become separated? Anyone have a similar experience? Seems strange to me.

I've heard before that they treat submissions as 1 unit but that these "units" go in and out of their safe or whatnot and therefore submissions that start together don't always stay together.
So, you have 4 coins in 1 unit/submission and they are kept together. The adjacent unit is 3 coins. But, someone takes a break or grabs from a different, adjacent unit of coins, and then things get spread. Then, the first unit is done and the 2nd unit has time left on it so it goes back into the safe.
Weird, yes. Unheard of, I doubt it.
That is my "guess" since I am not at PCGS. Could ge a good HRH question though
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Somewhat OT, does NGC pay for returned inserts, as well?
No, NGC doesn't pay for returned certs.

I will update my thread on the topic when I have all the results.
There is one XF coin that is nowhere near the condition census and 3 AU 55/58 coins that are close to the condition census. It would be cool to get a cross/upgrade into the condition census.
<< <i>And Fats how did yours come out?? I am really interested, I had some super coins all cross lately, not sure what to make of it.?? Not like PCGS.!! >>
Just some pocket change I had laying around. No gold. Went 3 out of 4.

Still waiting on 4 morgan dollars. I'm going to be selling off a good part of my collection so I can play with more D-mint gold and commems. The word on the street is PCGS slabs bring more money.
Do tell...
