So was the wisconsin error quarter heavily counterfitted?

  I haven't heard of any cases of them being counterfeited. And although from pictures it may look like scratches, when you see one in person it is clearly raised and WELL raised above the surface of the coin. Adding the extra features to a coin would be somewhat difficult especially on a high grade coin.

  Due to the fact that the extra leaves on the Wisconsin quarters are RAISED above the surface of the coin, it would be virtually impossible to create a counterfeit of the varieties from a genuine coin. The only way would be to create them from false dies or molds, which given the high grades of virtually all examples (AU or better) would make that quite a challenge.
  
  I’m not saying that it couldn’t be done. It would just be rather difficult.
