Heads up- something does not look right with these rare full step Jeffersons on ebay!

These are some very tough and expensive Jeffersons. The seller only has one recent feedback, and the certification numbers on the 51-S and 60 do not match Pcgs records. The pictures are fuzzy, but to give the seller the benefit of the doubt I emailed to verify the cert numbers. Does anyone have a way to check and see if these are registered in a registry set?

    The 51 matches

    Date, mintmark: 1951-S
    Denomination: 5C
    Variety: N/A
    Pedigree:
    Country: USA
    Grade: MS66FS

    so does the 60

    Date, mintmark: 1960
    Denomination: 5C
    Variety: N/A
    Pedigree:
    Country: USA

You need how to read the cert numbers off of pictures!

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

I don't get the "satin" comment though....sounds like seller is trying to capitalize off the recently released Mint Sets.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Hijacked looks about right, unless he list his

The 1956 MS67FS listed in this auction is a pop 1 coin.

Since the Just Having Fun collection contains a 1956 MS67FS this auction is definitely a fraud unless JHF is selling (which I doubt) or the pop #s I have are incorrect.

Someone just sent this to the seller:

    "Dear seller,
It is obvious to the rare coin/Ebay community that this and your other coin listings are scams, as collectors know who the true owners of these EXACT coins are.

So, you are either an innocent party who has been asked by someone else to list these coins (which neither you nor he could possibly have and others have fallen prey to the same scenario) or you are in fact the scammer.

Either way, be aware that these auctions are being reported and that there are serious potential legal consequences involved."

I can't believe eBay hasn't ended these auctions. This one is a no-brainer.

I have also sent the seller and bidders some info on these coins without coming right out and saying something that may get me in trouble with whomever. The very unlikely senario is if these coins are being sold because they might be overgraded. I have not tried contacting JHS or the other possible owners of the other coins.

But I do see a senario that someone is going to take the money and run!

I was out of town yesterday, but was alerted by a forum member that JHF's 1956(p) nickel from his registered set was being auctioned off on ebay. The collector threw down an initial bid of $5,600 on the coin to ensure no innocent collector would win the coin and pay for it, but withdrew the bid after (I am told) Leo alerted him that he was going to throw down an even higher bid for essentially the same purpose.

Leo - did you get a confirmation that this was, indeed, a case of a hijacked ebay account?

Thank you all for trying to protect my interests. I've had answered sooner, but have taken ill and just staggered out of bed to warn people on this forum about a counterfeit in the US Philippine series. In checking my e-mail, Mr. Wondercoin had thoughtfully supplied a link to this.

The actions and concerned of the people on this thread is an awesome display of brotherhood. It makes my eyes misty. I will write more later when I'm better, but for now ...

I assure you categorically that my Jefferson Nickels are NOT for sale, neither singly or as a collection.

    Warm regards,

    Get well soon JHF.

I also contacted the seller when the auction opened and told him the coins were not available. He admitted he was selling the coins for someone else. I told him to confirm the coins were available if he was going to continue the auction. Makes me wonder how innocent the seller is.
