A little late, but here are the entries into the subject contest. The person who guesses the day my new Cherrypickers' Guide arrives wins a variety coin featured in the book. Entries ranged from the very optimistic (next Tuesday?!) to the very pessimistic (2005?!):

dollardude 11/18/03
rob85635 11/20/03
tassa 11/28/03
ccrdragon 12/1/03

tlhoy 12/9/03
louis 12/11/03
agflyer 12/15/03

geoman 2/1/04
beartracks42 2/11/04
lawman 2/12/04
clackamas 2/14/04
mgocdm3 2/22/04

tjkillian 3/21/04
garneteye 3/27/04
tporreca 4/1/04
thenumish 4/4/04
darktone 11/12/05 image

Personally, I think there's about a 50% chance the authors will have the book ready for the F.U.N. show, which would put delivery sometime in late January. If they miss the F.U.N. show, then I might as well just send the coin to darktone.

Don't know what made me think of this, but here is the latest word from the author on the book, from his website:

"...all those who have ordered pre-publication copies should receive their copies no later than the end of March. I definitely do not expect any further delays. "

You guys with the April dates are looking prescient right now.

My guess is you won't see it 'till June, but that's just a guess.

Still no word on the book. J.T.'s web site hasn't updated since Feb 18, when he said the book would be delivered by March. image

I stumbled across the prize coin last night, before that like most of you I had forgotten about this little contest. Only two guesses are left in play, thenumish (4/4/04) and darktone (11/12/05). I figured out that if the book arrives on or before January 22, 2005 thenumish will have the closest guess, January 23 or any time thereafter and darktone is the closest. So I'll pend this post for seven months from now. Our wait for the book may never end, but this contest will. image

Who would have thought that darktone would be looking overly optimistic?

Was guessing "never" out of the question?

If you want to get technical, no one wins unless they guess the actual day the book comes out. It doesn't say anywhere "the person who guesses closest to the day the book comes out wins!

I had to do it. I didn't realize darktone still had a chance.

Then I win. I guessed "never." If the book doesn't come out then there's no way anyone could guess the date it comes out. Someone who guesses "no date" is closer than anyone else.

I would say April 1st, 2010 or any other year of your choice but definitely April 1st.
