Lunch with Q. David Bowers contest?

ms70ms70 Posts: 13,958 ✭✭✭✭✭

Inspired by RYK's thread, wouldn't it be cool if there was some sort of contest to win lunch with QDB at a major show? Maybe for a total of 3 or 5 winners so it's small & everyone can participate in conversation. I'd enter if I knew I'd be able to attend the show. image

Let them bid it up like Warren Buffett, and donate the money to a YN event, scholarship. I would right a nice check to have lunch with QDB!

Good idea but that would cut out the collectors with a smaller budget. image

How about a raffle? Get QDB involved, sell tickets for $25, and winner gets lunch with QDB at a mutually convenient coin show. QDB, ANR, and PCGS get good publicity in Coin World. Money is raised for United Way (uh-oh, here come the critics) or Make-A-Wish or Salvation Army or American Cancer Society or...

I thought you would ask him. I heard you had an in. When you are dropping off my bids for the Gentleman's Collection, just mention it to him in passing.

I knew someone would not like the United Way--but did not figure it to be you. image

FUN '05 I was at the same table with him. Does that count? image

Didn't cost me anything as it was the PCGS Registry lunch. HRH was at the table as well....so were a few folks from the board here that I recognize and were cool to meet.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Great idea but no way $25, might want to get a few of us YN's involved. $25 might be a bit for a lot of us. I mean yeah, a whole bunch of YN's really wouldn't fit much in the conversation IMO, but YN's my age. Something like $5 or $10 or start there and donate more if you want to. QDB I think would totally be willing to do it, and I think this is excellent. It'll will probably end up working. Good luck with it guys.image

I think for the 1st Annual QDB lunch, the first 5 people that posted in this thread get to go first! image

I have studied over his most recent books on type coins, Morgans, and Double Eagles. I think I would learn a lot.
