Have a glass or bottle of your favorite beverage....maybe two, but no more. That would be asking for more trouble. image

Then post a coin that you made yourself, along with the story. Good results and bad.

_____

Here's mine. Bought it raw as an XF-45 for $30. I always thought AU-50 or even 53 were possible, giving it a CDN value of $200 or so.

Sent it to ANACS, and they blessed it with an AU-58! (Not that I agree with them.) image

Bought this one for $90 from I think Chuck D'Ambra as a VF30, figured that I would send it in with my gold membership freebies and wonder of wonders, it came back from PCGS as a VF30.

There was an ebay seller named S. Swimmer that sold alot of "so called" AT coins on ebay.

I bought this one from one of his ebay auctions for $45. Looked good to me so I sent it to PCGS
    for there blessing.

PCGS blessed it with the ultimate grade and a pop 1 was born and remains pop 1 today.

Anyway, suckitude notwithstanding, here's are some entries of mine. A while back, I had some NGC submissions about to expire, so I sent some of my better-date IHCs out to Sarasota. (I've since cracked them all out and put them in an album.)

    Results?

NGC AU-58 (I think it's XF-45...nice Pick-Axe [Snow-7], by the way). Bought it raw as an XF from JJ Teaparty:

MS-62? I think it's AU-55 or 58. Bought from Heritage as an NGC AU-55 originally, and I cracked it out years ago and decied to resubmit on a whim:

MS-61? Nope, should be 58. Bought as an AU-55 on eBay for AU-50 money:

XF-45? Possibly 40, arguably a VF-35 by Fly-In standards. Bought as VF-35 from JJ Teaparty:

These were all helped by being superior eye appeal coins for the technical grade, I think...but I think they all got a "market-grade" boost.
  • Bought this one at a show as an AU raw, now in a pcgs ms62 holder with only 35 graded in any condition.image

I bought this one raw on ebay too. First shot
    image

Pulled this one from a broken mint set from ebay. Took 7 tries but I believed.

Pulled this one from an album and sent it to NGC. Came back MS68 first shot and crossed on the 3rd try.
Its still a pop 1 today.

I bought this Franklin half dollar for $12.00 from a dealer as part of a proof set. The dealer hates "modern crap".

No better than AU50...not even close to AU58. Sorry.
    All glory is fleeting.
