Agreed - F12 - may have been cleaned in the past. Hard to tell from the pic.

Sorry about the bad scans I can't seem to get them better. It has been cleaned more so on the obv than the rev do to the visable hairlines when held at an angle to the light. I was thinking of selling it on e-bay ,wanted another opinion on grade I was going with VG8 to F12 cleaned, open at $40. does this seem fair?

I'd say it's a solid G. Hard to tell about the cleaning with those pics but that being said it looks like some rough cleaning lines on the bust, I'm sure the thing has been cleaned at least once in it's time. If you're going to put it on the bay just open it at 99 cents and see what happens.

I'd say that there is a chance that it is a counterfeit. I can't say that with 100% accuracy from this scan, but my initial reaction to it is not positive. Counterfeits were not unusual during this period. This is something weird about the odd sharpness (looks like a Good, except for the E Pluribus Unum), color and overall relief. If it is real, I’d give it no more than a Good-6.

Overton 113, not a counterfiet (unless cast)

I would call it a solid good.

Well, it's not one of the poorly executed German counterfeits with the big nose and sometimes the wrong edge (lettered when it should be reeded) and motto (which should not be there). If it is bad, it is a cast copy.

It's a silver coin not cast. It still has some luster left, looks better in hand except for the hairlines that really bother me. I brought this back up today for some opinions .I guess nobody is up at 1:00 am.

    Thanks everyone

Just a bit of advice to those who graded this coin Fine or VF. The completeness of the word "LIBERTY" is not a grading point for Bust coinage. For the quarters and half dollars especially, a piece would have to be worn down to Fair or About Good for the feature to begin to disappear. The word in struck very deeply into the coin, and it’s not a grading point for these series.

The coin is kind of a smoke gray in color but the recesses seem to have a glow from under the gray. Luster may not be the best choice of words.

I agree with Bill J, at best a good-6. Also, the color and surfaces look odd, (actually does kinda look like a cast) if not its definitely been worked on and cleaned up a bit.

Looks more like it has been though a fire...not burned but pretty well smoked.

My vote is G6, genuine, and probably cleaned (not that it matters much on a low grade Bust half).

I work with a guy who has the #10 registry set of walking libertys with PCGS (Half dollar heaven). His first reaction was whow it still has mint luster in the protected areas.
