Is this coin worth anything.

I found a 1935 5 Francs French coin in my big bag of foriegn coins. It is in about AU condition. Is this coin worth anything?

My 2003 Krause lists this (KM888a1- alum.-bronze) @ $12 in XF and $30 in unc, but there's also the no mintmark version of that date,in nickel, @ $2000-$4000!

sorry, I initially misread the year as 1939

1935 5 frs,KM888, $2.50 in XF, $8.00 in UNC

The 1935 5 Francs is made of nickel and there were over 54 million minted that year of a design used 1933-52 but also in aluminum bronze and aluminum after 1937. Value may be around $3-$5. You might also try a library for a copy of the Standard Catalog of World Coins for pictures, values and lots more interesting info.

I really don't like being the one to tell you this, but the ebay auction you have linked in your post - that 1748 8 reale coin is not genuine. It is a fake.
