I think about $9,950 too steep... after all, it is just a modern commemorative.

That may be so, but in my opinion, the inventory they have is superlative to anything I've seen thus far. This is with regards to monster color-toned coins which I feel are severely undervalued in general. There are some others that I feel have some incredibly nice color-toned gems and one that comes to mind is GreatToning. If I were to carry the best of the best, I'd ask a pretty premium also.

Oh, come off it. In this case they're asking ten thousand dollars for an artificially toned modern commemorative.

Your statements here are pretty much firming up my opinion of you as a board shill for them.

A board member sold a coin like this on eBay for a tiny fraction of this asking price. He has a black face for a logo and maybe someone can ID him.

Sounds like I need to start improperly storing my coins so they tone since so many pay STUPID money for these coins. Color vs Grade it seem color wins. Come on guys this coin is free on most sets! I think some are either trying to pump and dump or they are spectulators instead of collectors!image

  • Hey, It's good to see the Lynch Mob is still in town. Who are we hanging tonight??? Oh yea, another dealer who sells high end coins. Hey if you don't like the coin or the price don't bid. The Mob can flame away, I have never bought from them or met them, but i can tell you this. They have several coins for sale I would like to own.

Man 10k for a high mintage modern silver dollar because of color. And I thought some of you were out of your mind buying classics almost 200 years old that were truely rare in comparison....I'm Sorryimage There certainly a sucker born every second, those that think it's such a bargin need to put their money where their mouths are IMO....image

I've come to the conclusion that he likes his coins, and prices them high because he likes having them as much as getting a high price for them. That's a nice position to be in. Even when many do not sell, the prices seem to remain the same. Not many sales occur if feedback is any indication, but it doesn't seem to be a concern. I find it interesting.

For the record, I'm not saying the price for that modern commem is justified. I am saying though that when I deal with someone and I feel they are straight and professional, you bet I will say it.

  • Anaconda are good folks, but I doubt any of this "stuff" ever sells anywhere near the asking price. It's either been stored improperly or AT IMO. Either way, not worth crazy money as far as I am concerned.

I have always wanted to agree with this statement. I do not have a vendetta against them...but you have to ask yourself...How would you feel if your mother purchased this coin for you as a surprise present, or for herself as an investment?

Hands down, no contest.........this is the most ignorant statement I've heard about collectable coins in my lifetime.
  • Adrian I think is a collector at heart and basically IMHO his Ebay coins are his collection and he enjoys showing off his collection. Because he's gotta sell some coins, he sticks a price on them and basically says if someone is foolish enough to pay that price, then I'll sell, otherwise I'll pay the fees to keep it on Ebay either to show it off, or as bait to attract people in.

Either way its a smart business plan and he gets his ego stroked at the same time. Granted, some of this coins are monsters, some arent and this one is AT.

Toned Peace Nut - If YOU say this is AT, that ends any debate. Please Please help us locate the coin doctor who painted that masterpiece. It should not be hard for multiples to be made and at fair price to cover cost of sulfer, hot plate, and whatever else was required there should be a real market. Maybe we can get PCGS to start a Registry Set for AT Toned Commemeratives. I am not trying to be sarcastic. I like the coin and its color and would be first in line to get one at a fair price that fairly compensated the artist/craftsman for his skills. I do have a problem with ruining coins by artificial toning when they are of collectable value - but for moderns worth less than $50 in the first place it is IMHO OK to use them as an easel just as some coins are well suited for jewelry purposes.
  • In a camera post made a while back Cosmicdebrise posted a pic of this type commem,
