What impact will PCGS Registry Kiosks have on the PCGS Registry?

I do not understand the hoopla surrounding this Kiosk promotion. I fail to see how this will increase participation in the registry program. Perhaps someone can explain it to me.

I think it's absolutely great. It has the potential to bring out many great coins that are not yet in registry sets!

The Registry Kiosks may bring in new people to the registry, who will realize that there is a registry forum for registry-related discussion... or not.

It's simply a form of advertising. More people will become aware of the "product" which
will increase participation. It's also believed by a multibillion dollar industry that keeping
your name in front of people will increase sales. While this may or may not be as effective
with this sort of product it will help keep it in front of people.

I've seen a few sets(70-80% complete) pop up all at once lately in the registries I participate in, so maybe it is drawing in some who didn't know about it before. More trolls to beat off.... uhmmmmmm.... I mean more competition. Yea.... that's the ticket.

There's really no hidden agenda to the Kiosks (by either PCGS or the dealers who provide them on their website). The way it was presented to me seemed fairly straightforward. Essentially:

PCGS recognizes the ever-growing popularity of its Registry Set program -- and its importance to maintaining (and increasing) their market share. They feel that one of the keys to their ongoing success is enticing DEALERS to endorse and promote this program. Moreover, I think they (PCGS) feel that many dealers have "discouraged" clients from participating in the Registry for fear that doing so exposes customer's contact info and want-lists to competitors. The kiosk system provides a way for a dealer's "confidential" customer to participate in the program without revealing the protected customer's identity.

In addition, PCGS has some fairly impressive programs (still in development) that will enhance the kiosk system for both collectors and dealers alike.

I really have no solid idea of what the kiosk is, however, the way GoldGuy explains it it sounds like it is superfluous.

After all, anyone can start a registy set and keep all their contact information confidential, as well as keeping the coins confidential. So, why is this system needed?
