Why do people do giveaways? It's really too generous. I haven't won one yet, but I hope I can contribute to this forum in a positive manner. I don't know what helpful things to post though. I keep forgetting what VAMs are.

Sorry, I don't see why I'm a troll.

Wow a 1890-CC morgan. You won it? Good job! Who gave it away?
Why do people receive giveaways? Maybe you can answer that.
I would love to have about $400 worth of coins given to me.....
knowledge. Perhaps the lucky winner would be someone who had exhausted there coin budget and would be delighted to win a simple coin related paper wieght.

birth year of course....lol
I know that there are better reasons, I figured it would cheer someone up to get something in the mail.
Perhaps if more people thought about the opportunity to cheer someone else up, we'd have a much nicer place overall.
While I've dumped a ton of money and time into collecting in the past couple years, one of the transactions I still recall as most satisfactory was one with a forum member who gave away his ugliest, least appealing coin. He didn't ask for it, but upon receiving his worst coin I had to agree it was awful -- so I sent him mine. Tough to say on whom the joke was, when it was all done. You can't beat that, and all it cost us was $.37 each.
It's actually a scam. You get someone's home address, and then you travel across the country and break in to their home. When is your next giveaway?

Those were my giveaways. I should have been clearer.

Giveaways here is generally to help young collectors with fewer spending power or new collectors who want something to kick start a collection, not quite the same as charity donations to Sallies who desperately need cash to put a roof over the head, clothes to wear and food on the table.
I have been blessed in many ways in my life (God is Good).....And I like sharing and helping....
I do it alot, and not just on this forum but on several auto forums as well....
I will also admit that I secretly hope that the ones whom have won a coin from me will enjoy a 'HepKitty' coin....

I have given numerous giveways (coins, books, and auction catalogs) to younger and older members because it is fun to share. It often has little to do with the "spending power" of the recipient because, frankly, I do not know (or care) what are the means of the recipient.
Now for a modern twist:
"Give away your life; you'll find life given back to you, but not merely given back -- given back with bonus and blessing. Giving, not getting, is the way. Generosity begets generosity." Luke 6:38 The Message translation

<< <i>GoldCoinLover, I saw in your other old post you had a job pending at NASA. You have no profile so I cant see where you are from, what facility do you work at? I work at NASA also and would be interested in knowing any other hobbyists that might be local.

Must be another person you're thinking about. According to GCL's past posts he is 16, lives in Surprise AZ and and most recently worked at Fazoli's.

The claim seems to ring a bell. Maybe he's the guy who holds the match to get the Saturn's fired up.

Hmm, thats interesting, check out the last post on this page. It seems back in January GCL had a job pending at NASA. I am a NASA co-op (Im only 23). I have worked semesters at two separate NASA facilities and haven't heard anyone talking about coins. I'm very interested to see how GCL's job prospect turned out.
