But it's currently at $404 regardless! Ouch, and wow.

I seen that baby on Ebay too, makes you want to cry. Considering what the coin will eventually go for, I would rather have a nice, low grade, certified, (VG-6 or VG-8), than that hack job.

Mine is only a semi-key, but I just won this item that suffered a similar fate:

For $8.34, I figured "why not?".

Supposing I bothered to slab it, what what do you suppose the grade and net grade would be at ANACS? XF details net F? Are there any guidelines for how net grades are arrived at under different circumstances, or are they strictly a matter of gut feel?

I don't have the coin in hand yet.

    Jonathan -

In my opinion, "net grading" is stupid marketing decision to increase revenue at ANACS.

Looks like your 07-S has XF detail to me, although it's damaged and cleaned.

Here's my new baby, a perfectly original F-12. Bit of wear on the wings but has a full LIBERTY.

    Nice 96-s Jon!!!

    Tonelover and Dave,

    Nice looking coins.

As other Barber collector's have said, and I have to agree, I think the 1896-s is currently the best buy, for the money, of the "Big 3".
