would you consider getting a nice xf/au, au/unc., choice unc., proof strike for type
or maybe a different mintmark set of threes
or a coin of each decade produced 1850's 60's 70's 80's
or maybe a civil war set 1861-65
possibly one of the under 1000 minted sexy dates of the 1880's
or maybe the one year type 1854 coin with the SMALL dollars lettering
or possibly one of the three really rare dates that have around 100-200 known of each date 1858? 1864? 1865? 1877?
or maybe you will do a complete set ????

Yes, but I am missing the 1862. Have you seen a nice AU lately?

Yes, but I only have the 54-O.

Yes, I have the 1883.

Yes, I have all of these but the 1877, which is, by far, the toughest one of the group.

Right now I own an 1854 $3 gold in PCGS MS-63. It's much better than the average MS-63 graded piece.
I believe that there are two types of $3 gold pieces, the 1854 "small dollars" type and the later coins where the word was roughly twice as large. Some day, I'll buy an example of the large dollar type, but for now I'll have to be happy with the one piece I have.
I love $3's, but I do not have the resources to go for the full set. There are some extremely expensive circulation issues (ie. 54-D $3) and proof-only issues, which make the series out of reach for me.
Instead, I will pick off choice AU examples of better and more interesting dates when I can.
