HOLY CRAP! Have these people gone NUTS!!! MARTY SPENDS ALMOST $180 on a 1964 proof set!
1964 proof set at $100 so far, and five days to go!

I think it'll hit $250. Unless Doops comes along, then more like $500.

My guesstimate ... PR67CAM minimum ... based on the small photo ... probably $250 - $300 on the set.

Impossible to tell from an image. Could be a hairlined dog. But, that obverse is off the charts; probably within the first five strikes off a fresh die. The reverse doesn't appear nearly as strong, but is likely also DCAM.

is it AH?

Nope. If it was, I'd have offered the seller a hell of a lot more than I did when I eMailed him 18 minutes after he listed it.

I bet the half looks even better out of the mint cello.
I do not know what the winning bid will be but I would think it would go far above $300.00 with all of number of persons who troll for DCAM coins. I would gladly pay $10.00-$15.00 for it at a local shop.

You think?

Because Russ and Marty got there first.
its a lock 68 DACM werth $1400!
Like everyone else, if it looks this good through 40 year old cellophane, wow!
$325.

<< <i>With you bidding on it? Russ..... >>
Nope. It's already at more than I offered the seller.

Was it obvious?
If this thread keeps going until the end of the auction, I wonder how many guesses will be posted with less than 5 seconds to go?
The rest is modern crap !

If that is so, how would all of you react if PCGS graded the pictured 1964 Kennedy half as not even being a CAM (do the the weakness of the frost on the reverse) and simply a brilliant proof?

What gives? Is it common on E-Bay to have some bidding when a new 7 day auction is listed, followed by days of no bids at all, followed by a 1 minute hyperbidding war between highly trained, battle tested E-Bay Coin Commandos/Numismatic Warriors utilizing the latest automated sniping technology to achieve victory?
I have never participated in E-Bay and would like to gain insight from those of you who have.

Yep.

Man, the frost is just dripping off the obverse though. Might be worth it to buy and keep it raw as a showpiece!
I don't think there is a major amount of profit going to be made by the buyer.
If it's already higher than Russ offered,I'd stay away.

I bet if you tip it at the right angle in the right light, you can make the black part of the shield go away, making it a Cameo-like
I bet I could get that in a PR67 holder

About 49 hours to go and still only 8 bids. What a treat to observe the progress of a 7 day auction. It appears that a few bids are placed early and then not much action for days. If the auction is not prematurely terminated, I would be shocked if there is not a flurry of bidding that takes place at the end of the auction.
Anyone care to guess how long before the auction expires that a bidding war starts and how many bids will be placed during the war? My guess is that bidding will start 5 minutes before the end and that at least 18 bids will be placed.
P.S. If anyone on the forum places the high bid on the coin, please favor us with a picture of the half, front and back, out of the cello. Thanks.

About 25 hours to go and still only eight bids. Anyone else care to predict when the last minute bidding starts and how many bids will be placed at the end of the auction. Again I predict bids will start with 5 minutes to go and there will be 18 total bids during that time. Also it will sell for over $300.00.
