  most definately. ask them to ignore the areas around the date. that's just normal circulation wear.

  I don’t think that this would pass the “magnet test.” The magnet and this coin would have no attraction for one another.

  It could be a Mercury covered bronze cent. If a bronze cent is dipped in Mercury, it will turn that color.
