Stacks' auction coins?

I noticed most of the coins Stacks has in their auctions are raw. Has this always been the case?
Some of the coins have a AT look. I can't tell if its just the pics but some don't look right.

Anybody ever won anything raw through any of their auctions?

Always been the case and Stacks is the oldest coin auction company ( still owned by the Stacks) in the country.

    Great company.

I've purchased several "raw" coins and tokens from Stacks through their auctions.

Only bid on one Bust half so far. Didn't win it but at the time there was a decent group. I haven't checked back lately.
One reason is they continue to send me priority packages with catalogs. Some folks like them Myself I don't want them clogging
up my mailbox every other week. I've tried nicely to email them 3 times to stop. I've called them on the phone 2 times.
Another couple emails and still they keep coming.

I think once you're on their list it's for life. Next time I ask them to stop no more mister nice guy.
Got to give them the "Stman charm." see if that works which I believe it will.image OK, all done now!!!!

I've bid on a few of their coins, but ONLY with a dealer representing me who evaluates the coin in person.

Stack's is like a 19th century eBay. They have sold some great rarities and some great collections, but you have to LOOK at EVERYTHING BEFORE you bid. They've been known to offer problem coins and not make a note of it.

I hope that I worded that comment nicely. image
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

stack's sells coins, not plastic (though as you've noticed, some coins happen to be stuck in plastic).
