You can also include those you've heard of as well as NGC guarantees.

$300 plus the coin back. Sold the coin for $40, so $340 total on a $237 purchase.

I remember reading an intervue with David Hall a few years back were he stated a proof Indian Head cent was resubmitted with a big fat finger print on it. I don't recall the date or grade, but he said PCGS paid out $50,000 on the guarantee and ever since they've referred to it as "the $50,000 finger print".

Then there's the 1963 PCGS PR70DCAM Lincoln cent that PCGS took off of the market for $39,000+ last year. In a round about way, the owner cashed in on the grade guarantee with that one.

I sent an 1905 Indian Cent to NGC and they kept my coin and replaced it with a properly graded one. MS-65RB

I'll tell you when they finally get mine done.
It's been "received" since 3/24/05 and still no word on it.

500 bucks on an NGC graded 1946 MS68 Jeff nickel. It was absolutely no better than a 66.

$600 on a 64RD IHC that turned purple in the holder. Made my day because I only had $450 in the coin so I got the check and coin back....

it still graded 64 but RB instead of full RD. Yes - there is a huge price difference between RD and RB on IHC's.

    $2000 on a 1938 cameo Lincoln cent.

The process involves submitting the coin for Presidential Review under the terms of the grading guarantee. So fill out a submission form for Presidential Review and send it in. I also enclose a letter explaining in more detail why I am sending the coin in. Once it is reviewed, Customer Service will can you and make a buy back offer (usually I indicate what I am looking for in the letter). If you agree, they will quickly send you a check and cover your submission costs.

I've only collected on one coin. It was a doctored Capped Bust Dime. I showed the coin to HRH at a coin show and it took less than a minute to negotiate the deal. Something like 5K or so, as I recall. It was a long time ago.
