Chief Justice John Marshall Proofs

Was just curious who plans on getting some of these. I imagine several people already have. I just took a gander at them, and they're not really floating my boat.

I might get one due to the historical signifance of the man. But numismatically, they are probably not a great buy.

I'm trying to get some of the UNC ones, but the Mint's website won't let me checkout image ...

It won't let me checkout either. This is the only website I know where your a member and have to enter in your credit card info everytime your order. They need to look at the "Amazon.com" model.

No use in calling either, "We are unable to answer your call, please try again latter". What a POS system!image

Indeed. They should just outsource it to Amazon, like many other companies have done.

The Marine Corps commemorative is the other one coming out later this year and should be a fast sellout.
    Marshall may be a sleeper.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Marine Corps silver dollar release. I too think that one will be very popular. I'll be picking some of those up for sure, but I think I'll have to let the Marshall's go.

Hopefully everone fells the same. Last year I thought I'd just start ordering the Silver Proof sets and low and behold they sold out the clad sets and the Silver set hasn't caught on. You never know what will command big $$$ on this stuff so I'm just buying 1 proof and 1 unc of every silver dollar the mint makes for my collection.

The Mint site appears to be working again. Well, at least my order went through. Or at least it appeared to....

This one is likely to follow the Jacky Robinson and Black Patriots coins. Very few will be sold and they will skyrocket in price. If you believe in the contrary theory, you will buy the coin.

Coin collectors are a curious lot - they defy the laws of economics. They don't like the coin when it costs $30, so they wait until it costs $300 and all of a sudden they must have it. Demand for the item rises with the price, it makes no sense.

I just ordered a Chief Justice John Marshall Uncirculated silver Dollar today. I like the look of it. Also, its the first time I ordered directly from the mint.

Just watch if these take off the proofs will be the key. Just like the 04 clad set are more costly than the silver proof sets. Everyone thinks the UNC will be a better choice by past histroy while overlooking the proofs.image
