    That happens to be John Pell, lord of Pelham Manor, and the seller of the land to the French Huguenots which became New Rochelle. The animal is a fatt calfe. One of the provisions of the sale was that a fatted calf was to be delivered to Lord Pell every year on June 24 forever.

    Now what ol' John Pell did or is doing with that calf is not really explained in the history books.Moooooooo!image
  • As it turns out the coin is graded MS66. I better soften up the images a bit. It looks really good in person. image
