Was this my error? Buying e-bay

I bought item #3967874244 April 1st ( I know it's april fools day ). Seller dosen't take paypal so I sent a check and told him I would be on vacation until 4/16/05. When I returned I recieved the coin and left a feedback. On 4/21/05 I noticed the coin is a PF69 not a PF70 and e-mailed the seller with the cert# of the coin he sent. No response from the seller. My error?
Thanks

I would give it a few more days for him/her to reply. If no reply, then try to take it up higher. Whether or not it was your error? One can only choose to debate. I must say though, when dealing with an expensive coin, I check everything out to make sure it is 100% the same coin I won.

I do hope everything works out well for you.

    Please keep us posted.

You can report the seller to ebay. They have several negs that reflect the same kind of issues you have.

Not sure what else you can do.

    Neg feedback!

The bad thing is that you left feedback, although not legally binding, it is an indication that you recieved the item & were satisfied with the transaction. If I was the seller, it would seem that you are trying to do a switharoozee. Whether or not the seller intentionally sent you the wrong coin or if it was a mistake is moot.

I think you are out of luck. If it is an honest seller, he would check his inventory and see that he may still have that coin by cert #.

    good luck image

  • I had checked his feed back but I was ok when I checked. I should have checked the coin Cert closer but just returning from vacation I had lots of things to do. I looked at the coin close but not the cert. I must be getting to old as this is a first for me.

WE OFFER FULL REFUND OR REPLACEMENT FOR ANY ITEM(s) NOT AS DESCRIBED

Was your coin cert 1861728-xxx ? Probably from the same submission since the NGC pop report in his ad doesn't show any 70's yet

After 30 days you can file a fraud report with eBay, then follow-up with a claim. So you have some time to wait for the seller to respond.

You can also get his contact information and give him a call.

If he sold some 69's he might have shipped your 70 to somebody else. Good Luck!

Seller seems to be mostly legitimate, but has a few recent Negs. Hopefully he just sent the wrong item, and will make it good.
Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my hard drive?

  • I recieved coin #1861726-022. PF69 and checked negs March 29 when I put the coin on my watch list but most negs in April after I bought.

I NEVER leave feedback until I've seen the coins and established that I am 100% satisfied with them.

On another thread people said that a seller should leave feedback after he gets paid and the buyer should leave feedback after he gets the coins. I think NO ONE should leave feedback until the transactions is over and BOTH parties are satisfied.

Or you could have just looked at the grade on the slab...?
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

You are correct. I was to involved in looking at the coin and didn't even look at the grade on the slab. I just looked at the sellers coins for sale and nothing there at all today. I feel like an idiot.
  • You can add to your feedback left for them here.
Click Follow up to feedback left.
  • Go here put in the sellers user name and the item # of the auction you won. e-Bay will e-mail you his phone #. From looking at his negative feedback he obviously does not reply to e-mails. YOU NEED TO CALL HIM ON THE TELEPHONE ASAP.

  • I had his phone number on his invoice and left a message Thursday plus 2 e-mails so far. Weird ansewering service as you had to say your name before it would continue.

If the coin was sent through the US mail try going after the seller with the threat of Mail Fraud - it might get their attention.

    Good luck.

  • The seller has no coins for sale now and won't return my phone call or e-mails but just now left a e-bay feedback that I'm a quick pay.
I think I will be having the PF69 for dinner.image
