IMO EBAY JUST DOESN'T CARE. This One Takes the Cake. I Thought I Saw It All On EBAY, Till Today....

Update 4-25; I have called Ebay for the 4th time to try to get action taken against this seller, who uses images of coins he does not own, and offers the coins for sale on Ebay. All I am getting is a royal run around. I am also geting emails from this seller, asking me to remove the Neg that I left. I feel like running a contest, to have forum members guess the day and time that I receive the retaliatory neg. I am looking for another place to offer my coins. Suggestions are welcome.
4-21: Last Update. I just spoke with Ebay trust and safety (second time). After carefully exchanging all pertinent information, I was told that I needed to reduce the whole event to an email. I told her that she had all of the info, but she still insisted on the email. Other than the NPB alert to get my listing fee back, I am done with this. If they don't care, then I no longer do. I will go back to reading my stack of Orwell fiction. Thank you for all the valuable posts, guys (and even the dumb ones, Russ).
UPDATE 4-20 Bidder notified me today that he could not pay. Negative was left. Enough is enough.
UPDATE seller has sold the coin for $1500 on his relist (3970466837. I still haven't heard from him. I called Ebay trust and safety, they say everything is hunky dory, and no rules have been violated. I will hit the Neg on Day 7, if payment is not received.
UPDATE: Dispatch 4:04 PST/ Not selling the first time around, this fella has relisted the coin, this time with a reserve (#3970466837).
This one is great. A guy hits the buy-it-now on my $1500 82-CC Morgan on Thursday (#3970069157). I don't hear anything from him, which is fine, as only one day has passed. I look at the new buy-it-nows today, and see that he has listed my coin for sale at $1500 open, $2750, B-I-N, along with my scan (3970311577). LINKS are 2 posts down. Thank you SS350Camaro.
I am more amused than anything. Either he got in over his head, and I would be glad to let him bow out of the sale, or he is looking to turn a quick buck. Whadda Ya Think?

<< <i>If he doesn't show up with the dough, I may have to hit the NEG button. >>
Wouldn't that be against your philosophy of never leaving a neg even when they deserve it?
Russ, NCNE
Neither. I just get this gut feeling that if he doesn't sell it, I won't get paid. If it sells for $1500, and the buyer uses Paypal, he will incur a loss of about $90. So I think he just made a mistake. I wish he would contact me, I don't bite.
<< <i>It's happened to me before. In one case, a bidder who had PayPaled right away, listed the coin at $1 open with no reserve and lost his ass.

hahahahahaha
Man, Russ, you have a better memory than my computer. You are right, I won't use the Neg if he doesn't pay. It is satisfying for about 5 minutes, but the recoil is too painful.
Bought for $20.50.
Sold for $15.51.
That's rather the opposite way it's supposed to work, isn't it?
If you going to use logic and reason, Mark, I will find another forum. Just kidding, I will drop him an email now. You are a genius.

For a minute I was worried that you'd grown a spine.

Darn, probably another junk Merc will come my way.....

I would say so. More importantly, it's your coin until he takes physical possession of it.
If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

Alternate scerio: He pays you, I pay him, you pay me and call the whole thing off keep the coin for another 20 years.
Wait one more scenario: if the coin sells higher contact the winning bidder yourself!
I'm tempted to tell him I live neaby and would like to drop by to see the coin before bidding....
Just having fun. I hope you get your $1500 -
Need I finish.....

<< <i>And technically he may be right since he did buy the coin for $1500. >>
If he hasn't paid for it, he hasn't bought anything.

Markglicker- I think Russ is calling you out!!
Ebay is a survival game. If I had left the 40 or so negatives that I should have, over the years, I assure you that I would have 10 or 15 retaliatory negatives myself. That sure as hell does not help business. I run my business the right way, and don't have room for that kind of bad baggage.
Bought from Wonder Coin for $675
For sale for $1,900 & BIN $3,250
I can see it now... the pic says, "Dont trust me, I'm going to rip you off!" LOL
Or... what if something like this happens:
Someone uses the BIN on his auction.... and the coin misteriously disappears in the mail.
There are a few things I learned a long time ago:
1) Never sell your undercoin when you buy a sight unseen upgrade. The number on the holder doesnt mean it's a nicer coin.
2) Never sell a coin if you dont have it in your possession. It might not make it to you.
a) It might be a dog, worthy only of being sent back to the seller.
b) It might be so nice you really want to keep it. This happend to me once. I sent the coin to the guy... and loathed the trip to the P.O. I still remember that coin.
David
HOWEVER, if this guy doesn't take his medicine ( on his gamble ) well then hell's fury should be sent his way first for being an idiot, second for making the original sellers life miserable, 3rd, did I mention idiot already...
I will check on this and hope it turns out, I want to conmtinue buying and possibly selling some coins on ebay - but - talk about your mine fields.
I cannot thank the people on these boards enough for sharing their ebay hooror, humor and success stories.

The Wondercoin was only a $10 eagle -- and he says he has a $25 one. I wonder if he knows the difference...

Anybody want to give odds on his paying if he can't sell the coin?

If he chooses not to pay for his purchase, he will suffer no consequences since the seller from whom he bought the coin is so worried about getting a neg he'd rather let others in the selling community get the same shaft than fulfill his moral obligation to send out a warning flag.

Why would he pay Laura for a coin purchased from Mitch?
(Man, if I was Laura, I'd be insulted!!!!)

Russ. The ammo is called the non paying bidder alert. If this fellow doesn't pay, I will wager a BU Silver Panda, that I have him NARU'd, by Wednesday of this week.
