Is this kennedy a fair price ??
I really like the toning..and it seems affordable, good feedback. any thoughts? I was thinking about putting together a 1964 toned set, half, quarter, dime, nickel, penny.. shouldn't cost too much

what makes you think AT?
<< <i>what makes you think AT? >>
Admittedly my skills at detecting AT/NT are poor at best but since he has 4 of the same coin, with very similar toning, a person has to wonder if these were AT experiments. ? no ?
This dealer is a known coin doctor - stay away from his coins!!!

AT, fake, colored, cooked, baked, treated, artificial, not market acceptable.
Don't pay more than melt silver value for it. It's .3618 ounces of artificially discolored silver mixed with a bit of copper.
It's crap, it's garbage.
I trust I have made my opinion clear.

<< <i>Deadhorse - how do you REALLY feel about it?
Well, since you ask. I'm leaning just ever so slightly to the conclusion that it may well be artificially toned.

I appreciate everyones help with this tonight but the sarcasm really stinks !
"This auction is 2 with the Wayte Raymond Albums. As you know these albums are highly collectable. They are from the 1930’s and 40’s. They are known for their ability to tone coins, due to the high sulfur content."

<< <i>YEAH, I GOT IT..I came to this forum to get some education and for some help.. and so far up until oh, 5 minutes ago it was fine, I had alot of help with this and other subjects, what I don't need is sarcasm, I have to deal with nasty people all day(customer service) and I sure don't need it here. If the questions are too much or too frustrating for you then please hold your tongue and let the people who want to help, do just that.

WOW!
The coin is AT, should be obvious to most people with a little bit of experience. I was just having a little fun with it on a Saturday night.
That wasn't sarcasm by any stretch.
Clearly you are in the wrong line of work if a little humor is too much for your fragile personna to handle. That wasn't sarcasm either, since you obviously don't understand the concept.
If you think that I was somehow being nasty, as you put it, then you are far too sensitive to hang around this board. You're liable to have a nervous breakdown when you come across those that can really be nasty.
If you deal with people face to face and are as clueless to people's intentions as you appear to be here, then I have no doubt that you have trouble with your day job.

So maybe after working 12 hours today, I was tired and irritable and wanted to find out more about this subject I know little about.
Someone else said that they were At simply because there were alot of them and they werer phoney. I didn't stop and think about that but it is so true. again this is why I stay away from coin shows and only buy what I know is right. ( I can't afford the mistakes) and do not yet have the confidence level to act like I do especially where a good amount of money is concerned. It's alot cheaper to look on ebay or other sites and play ":guess the grade" on here without it costing me anything but time.
Anyway, Sorry for the blowup, If I misunderstood I aoplogize.
Thanks for listening- Gil
If you do a search on AT you'll find a whole lot more, but the answer to 'how do you know it's AT?' is: 1. experience, 2. experience, 3. sometimes luck (even PCGS gets it wrong occasionally). Sometimes, as with this auction, it's easy to call a coin AT, as this seller has quite a few that look like this, and NT hoards rarely (read never for eBay) happen naturally. With experience I'm sure it's easy to quickly recognize the shake and bakes and blowtorch jobs that usually show up on eBay. I however don't have jack for experience, so I'd never truly be comfortable knowing AT vs. NT, plus I don't understand why a monster NT coin goes for 100x what a blast white goes for. Probably your best bet is to post any auction you're considering bidding on here, and hoping the more knowledgeable forum members chime in with all the same answer. Sometimes there still are big disagreements though, and you'll always have to wade through a bunch of non-answers, jokes, sarcasm, and fighting. Either learn to ignore those, or jump in, or just leave, cause that's the way things are, have been, and always will be (on this board any every other board I've ever been on).
edited to add: upon reconsideration, the wannabe topic is the most common, AT vs. NT I guess is second. You should probably ignore ALL the wannabe posts, they'll drive you crazy.
Need more $$$ for coins?
<< <i>If you were only having"fun" on a Saturday night and I took it the wrong way then I will apologize. I have no problems at work, I have superior customer service skills and help everyone I come in contact with. I just keep my thoughts and feelings to myself. Some questions people ask ( and maybe mine was one) are downright dumb. But I have to smile and help them through, listen to their stories about life and still help out, granted some are very thoughtful, intelligent caring people that just need help and some are having a rotten day.

Not a problem. I just thought you were over reacting a bit. In time you will be able to spot the AT coins a mile away. Some are close and hard to tell. That one just screamed AT. Were it a closer call, I wouldn't have posted what I did.
When the colors flow from the fields over the devices with no breaks or changes in the toning, that's a dead givaway. Even without that guy having a bunch of them for sale, most all the folks around here would have said AT. I was ranting on about the coin, not the asker of the question. It was never, ever intended to be aimed at you. I'm sorry you took it that way, perhaps I should have been more careful in my post, but I figured by then, you already knew it was AT.
You will find that people here like to have fun. Your question had already been answered numerous times. I was just throwing in a bit of over the top nonsense. Had I thought you would be negatively affected by it, I never would have done it. Also, Kennedy halves don't ever naturally tone that way. You saw the examples of how they tone. Once in a while they can get a bit more colorfull but as I said, there will be toning breaks where the fields meet the devices.
No harm, no foul. Let's just move on. If I see a post of yours in the future with a question I can help on, I will try to be as professional as possible.
Still, be ready for people here to have some fun and it's rarely ever intended to poke fun at anyone in particular, but ususally a bogus coin or a bogus eBay seller.
Don't let this color your opinion of this board and hopefully me either. This is the best place on the planet for numismatic minds and everyone is always ready to help. We do tend to lambast the altered coins though.
