Lincoln cent AT or NT?

I'll give the background on this coin later but I want everyone's unbiased opinion.
AT or NT? Also, what grade do you think it will earn. Currently its raw but soon it
will go to PCGS.
The coin has full luster and has more eye appeal than any other copper coin in
my collection (red or otherwise). Especially nice is the large amount of purple on the
reverse, although the coin has a purple and blue tones throughout.
I am no expert with copper and my last Lincoln submission got BB'ed for cleaning,
although I liked (and still like) that coin.

At least it was any sort of coin at all. Just imagine, what if it was wasted on This?

Could be cleaned and retoned or this is also what happens when someone rubs a coin between their fingers.
Wonder how I know that?
Joe.

The yellow around the protected devices and the purple fields.

I recall that copper toning goes from orange to red to brown,
with some blue/violet intervening shades.

I still like it though!

Purple fields don't necessarily indicate a cleaning. There are plenty of uncleaned Lincolns that toned purple from the paper backing in Whitman albums. That's why it usually appears on the reverse.
The yellow and the funky color in the obverse fields are worrisome, though.

I have an Indian Head cent with a light cleaning and it has that same purple.....that's not to say a purple lincoln is a sign of cleaning as there are some really nice toners out their, but the location of the toning and the fact that it's just in the fields...makes me think cleaned all the way.
it was cleaned. In hand, the coin shows deep red in the protected areas. The
pictures make this look yellow but in hand it is closer to orange/red. I took
the above pictures, trying to maximize the purple and blue tones.
I like the theory that the coin was thumbed. I've seen alot of old copper with
full red in protected areas that fades to brown in the fields and high points.
I purchased the coin years ago at a local shop when I was putting together
a Dansco. It sat in my dansco for about 4 years. I did notice that the coin had
some interesting color but it didn't strike me as unusual. It was a typical B/RB
uncirculated cent. I paid about $4 for it.
Recently, I decided to take the coin our of the Dansco for closer look and I
noticed the purple and blue. I don't know if this was a reaction in the album
or what. But the coin has definitely changed color.
I guess I'll pay my $18 to find out what PCGS thinks. At worst case, it goes
back into the album.

It is not uncirculated and worth $10 as it is. It also has been cleaned.
Buy a nice Au-58 1909 to match it.

Chris, where do you think the coin show wear?
Please check out my eBay auctions!
My WLH Short Set Registry Collection
From what I see in the pic the coin has wear on the cheek bone and jaw bone area and also in the hair curls. This is baised on what I see in the pic and in hand it could be that these areas are just not fully struck. This yr is known for very sharp strikes so when you see one like that it's most likly AU.
