If a forum member offers to send a coin to PCGS for you is 6 months too long to wait to get a PM fro

mrdqmrdq Posts: 1,186 ✭✭✭
If he's active here and just not responding to you what should I do?

I don't know what the deal is because there's just no communication.

Is it a dealer or a collector?
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Collector i'm almost positive..i'm going to check some old posts for any clues. I have his name and address of course and i'm not into the Public Hanging.. well.. yet anyway.. I'm just looking for some communication or just a return of the coin if it's not even sent in yet.

I would say before a public flogging, see if you can get his phone number on one of the online reverse directories and give him a call. I know some people have issues with being able to use the PM functions. Nine months is way too long, I would hope he has a good excuse.

  • yes - that's quite a long time - Was PM feature used before you sent coin? good luck - and let us know how it turns out. I would just give him a call.

  • Is he still waiting for you to mail him the fees?? Try a phone call, but it's probably long sold.

I want to publically apologize to MrDQ. He is referring to me. I have been going thru some bad financial problems, moving, new job, and haven't had the money to send them off. Not that that is any kind of excuse. I am going to the PO tomorrow to send the coins off. Hopefully, I haven't ruined myself here, if I have, then I will live with the consequences of my inactions. I am PM'ing MrDQ after this post and hopefully he can accept my apologies.

  • OMG - is the mail that slow??? Is PCGS that slow? are you dealing with Lord M? image (just kidding)
  • GaCoinGuy: DON"T SEND the coin in to PCGS. Just return it to the owner so he can have a PCGS dealer get it done quickly. Then you can spend your time on your own concerns, not the owners.

PM's are free - 6 or 9 or even 1 month without communication is unacceptable in my opinion.
Who is General Failure, and why is he reading my hard drive?

Ga Coin Guy: Send Mr DQ's coin back to him IMMEDIATELY!! There is NO excuse for this, and if you do not act soon, we will presume you are a thief and a liar!! imageimageimage
  • The fact you came forward and apologized is great. You could have easily stayed hidden. I do beleive you should send this perso ntheir coin(s) back asap. insured with delivery confirmation. Everyone goes through tough times, some worse than others. It is these tough times that usually makes us cognizant that bad things do happen to good people. Your actions are poor but, your stepping forward and apologizing and (note) taking action is what will remedy this unfortunate situation. I know you would not have been pleased and probably not as patient as the individual you have hurt in this exchange.

So my 2 cents, is send the coins back, make sure they are insured and trackable. Other members/dealers will help him. Focus on your problems - whatever they may be - you will get through them - be strong. I hope to hear that this is resolved shortly on these boards, and that all will be forgiven. Best of luck to you during your challenges.

I gave a dealer 6 Kennedy Halves I had purchased from him to send to NCS to have some
"stuff" removed from the reverse side of the coins. I gave him the coins at the beginning
    of July 2004.
He didn't even get around to sending them in until Jan!
He also didn't put any "special" instructions like "treat reverse ONLY" and the whole coins
were treated and everything was removed (the obverses had monster toning!)!imageimage
He sent them back to NCS for a refund.....

    STILL NOTHING!
Won't return my calls...( I call about 4 times a week).
When I do catch him....he always comes up with a story,...ie I'm sending you some more to look at, or how
    tough things have been.
    Bottom line,......STILL NOTHING!image

He is supposedly some bigshot long-time ANA Dealer.

Because of this, I went ahead and joined the Collectors Society so that I can submit the coins myself
to NCS and NGC. It cost me $100, but it was worth every penny....mostly, because I don't have to
depend on others and run into potential problems.image

Grandyjai---If this dealer is a member of ANA, you should contact ANA to register a complaint against him. If he doesn't make good on your coins there is a good chance the ANA will expell him.

    Perry Hall,
Thanks,.....I have thought of that, but I have really been trying hard to just work it out.....
.....Maybe a little afraid that if I did complain, I would end up with nothing.image
    It's about $1,200 and that's a LOT of $$ for me!image

I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."

He got called on it over three months ago and has still not returned the coin or provided a valid submission number. He has been logged on as recently as two weeks ago. Methinks he no longer has the coin to return.

  • GaCoinGuy was posting yesterday taking about his finds at a bank.

He has got a lot of nerve posting if he has not returned Mr. DQ's coin. GaCoinGuy, Mr DQ, what's the status?

    Read this thread.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
