That OK, a big time dealer cut you out of the loop. Hmm, wonder where this coin will wind up when it is cracked out. And what will be the price it sells for? These things just spin around like the wheels on a car. Isnt ebay wonderful? image

...so I could crack it out and sell it to a big time dealer.

    But, alas, I got out-sniped.>>

ANACS thinks it's AT. The fact that I tried to snipe it should give an indication of what I thought. image

    Russ,

Do you think ANACS could be wrong or just being careful?

    AT? NT?

With due apologies to greattoning and the new owner, who cares?

It looks like UT to me.

It shows how crazy the toning mania is. I just sold a regular, non-toned (but not dipped or faked) NGC MS-64 1964-D Kennedy for $8.50 (which I thought was a reasonably fair price), and....

...Someone sells a bogus AT 1964-D Kennedy, clearly described and slabbed as AT, for $34.19. As long as this continues, the ovens will continue to generate a lot of heat.

Doesn't seem to give much incentive for sparing the acetylene torch.

People can talk about the strip-and-dippers all they want. As much as I (usually) don't like that, it's not nearly the mania that the market for toners is. No one dips a coin and increases its market value by a factor of five or ten.

I'm on the fence as to whether it's AT or NT. (Legal Disclaimer: This is just my opinion. No intention to flip-flop expressed or implied.)

You're operating on the assumption that the coin really is artificially toned. image

Though K6AZ attempted to represent ANACS as the utmost authority and expert witness in toning issues on another thread, that simply is not the case. It is pretty clear why Russ was willing to place that bid for that coin. ANACS blew the call. They aren't such an utmost authority.
