Anybody ever heard of Vincent LaLoggia and "Finest Known"?

RussRuss Posts: 48,514 ✭✭✭
They're out of Boca Raton, FL. Anybody know anything about this company?

I have seen his small ads in coin world and numismatic news. It has his picture of him and his title "chief numismatist" along with 2-3 coins for sale in the $10-30K catagory.

I've seen his ads in publications, but have never bought from him. I have noticed that he is looking to hire an experienced numismatist.

That's James DiGeorgia's outfit. He's been around for a while. Also runs this business.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Is that the same James DiGeorgia named in this FTC complaint?

I can't take credit. The FTC info was PMed to me by another forum member.

It would be a pretty amazing coincidence if there are two James M. DiGeorgias in the coin biz.

I got the spam email today as well.

I wonder how he got my email address - I never did business with him.

I assume he got mine from the Registry. Is yours visible?

James was with Oak Tree during the crazy market of 1988-90. I sold those guys a number of MS64 bust half dimes and a slew of other type coins. Back then those were $3000 a pop. And it never mattered how plain a coin was, it always could be sold. I believe he also worked for Heritage either before or after the Oak Tree stint. He originally came out of New England Rare Coin Galleries in Mass.

Obviously he makes money in this business. image

Nope - mine is not visible on the Registry. (But I'd better double check)

I bought a Franklin (1959 Proof 69 no less) from him back in May. Although it did take some time to actually execute the transaction (I was getting nervous for a week or so there), the coin did arrive, and at a decent price IMO. I know another collector that bought one at the same time without any problem.

How does all this tie into Vincent LaLoggia? If this is the Vinnie that I used to deal with, he was a fantastic guy who hooked me up with several Pop 1 Lincoln's on the layaway plan. He moved several times and I lost track of him and wondered if this was the same Vinnie? Any more info?image

There used to be a Vinnie with Numismatic Consultants out of Hilton Head, SC. I bought some coins from him and was very pleased. I wonder if it's the same guy?

That was Vinnie Laloggia and I can't see there being two people into selling coins with that name? He was great and I would trust him? Anybody know if he works for this new place or what?
