I've been looking for a $1 Alaska Rural Rehabilitation Corp token for my dollar type set. How available are they and what is the value once you catch up with one?
I've only seen a handful of coins in the past 35 years. I think the smaller denominations are worth $100 or so and the $5 and $10 are worth $200 to $300 each, more for Gems.
Orie and I were bidding for a complete set that was up on Ebay the other day. It ended up at $960 or so... Orie said that the winner was buying for a museum (in Alaska I believe).
My Dad is talking to a person he knows in Palmer, Alaska that he thinks may have a few. We will see...
BTW, Here's the link to what Mr. Hall thought of our ARRC Bingles... Oddest coin submitted
I read that they were commissioned (if that's the right word) by the city of Palmer, AK. That's where the originals were used.
From the picture it looks like the reverse has the '50 years' etc. verbiage, whereas the originals were uniface (I think that's the right word. Same on both sides...)
Comments
As far as price - I'd guess it would take almost $100 dollars to buy one that is in mint state. Might be more, might be less.
Bingle link!
Glad to see you made it over here.

Is there any design on the reverse?
