About ARRC Bingles

I've been looking for a $1 Alaska Rural Rehabilitation Corp token for my dollar type set. How available are they and what is the value once you catch up with one?

Good luck finding one. I've only seen one of these on eBay during the last three years.

As far as price - I'd guess it would take almost $100 dollars to buy one that is in mint state. Might be more, might be less.

Thanks for the link. I've actually been emailing that fellow about finding one. Very helpful.
  • Hey Orie,

Glad to see you made it over here.

  • We were wondering what these looked like... There is no mistaking these for the real bingles.

I've only seen a handful of coins in the past 35 years. I think the smaller denominations are worth $100 or so and the $5 and $10 are worth $200 to $300 each, more for Gems.

  • Orie and I were bidding for a complete set that was up on Ebay the other day. It ended up at $960 or so... Orie said that the winner was buying for a museum (in Alaska I believe).

My Dad is talking to a person he knows in Palmer, Alaska that he thinks may have a few. We will see...

CDWegner: Who made the anniversary medals? They look pretty interesting in their own right.
Is there any design on the reverse?

  • ck,

I read that they were commissioned (if that's the right word) by the city of Palmer, AK. That's where the originals were used.

From the picture it looks like the reverse has the '50 years' etc. verbiage, whereas the originals were uniface (I think that's the right word. Same on both sides...)
