The only thing they got right on the label is the coin #7419. The .68 would mean that it is graded MS68. The cert # comes up:

    Date, mintmark: 1882-S
    Denomination: S$1
    Variety: N/A
    Country: USA
    Grade: MS63

what a joke. I cant believe the scams out there. Buy from those that have over 1000 feedbacks. then you know they are probably pretty reliable and professional. What kills me is the guy actually spent some time I am sure to print the false label, and for what?? A measly 30 bucks???

Did you happen to see the username?

"legalassistmom" implies a female paralegal. If so, you'd think she'd know that using a bogus PCGS label is illegal.

    Okay,

I got this reply very quickly:

Sorry but PCGS did appraise it and no that is not the original tag or cover
because they are in the safe where I keep the coins and did not want to use
them since they are hard to film through so you go ahead and have them contacted
because the numbers are valid and they will see that. People like you are the
reason ebay is loosing money and more people are reporting harassment like
    you.

    This was her reply:

"I suggest you mind your own business since it is certified and the actual case is cracked and I will be glad for you to contact them since I am a legal assistant I will file suit against you for harassment."

So now what should I do???

I sent her a reply, and kindly explained what the.68 meant and the fact that the certification number states that it's something else, and I also let her know that it's not people like me that are causing ebay to lose money, but the scammers that ebay refuses to do anything about. Shamika, you should remind her that as a paralegal, she should know better.

    Here is my reply:

"As a paralegal, you should know better. This is a bogus PCGS label. Anyone can go to http://www.pcgs.com/verify.chtml and confirm the authenticity of a PCGS number. PCGS does not recognize this serial number and it is clearly a counterfeit.

Heck, the first part of the number (7419.68) doesn't even match the grade. Isn't what you are doing considered fraudulent? Then again, how would I know. I'm just a stupid high schooler.
    "

    Stay tuned.

My exchange was much more statesmanlike.

    My email to "legalassistmom":

That is not a PCGS-graded coin, it is not a proper slab and the purported certification numbers do not match your auction description. In other words, it's a fake.

    "Mom's" response:

No it is not and I am not going to be slandered by your stupidity.

    My reply:

The certification label is fake and your auction already has been reported to PCGS and Ebay. Don't take my word for it -- check the certification number online yourself -- it's irrefutable proof your auction is bogus.

One more thing, slander is spoken, libel is written, moron. And since truth is an absolute defense, I assure you I feel much more comfortable about my email than you should about your scam auction.

    Edited to add:

    "Mom's" surresponse:

THAT'S FINE YOU DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO BUT I WILL TOO

    I hope he/she purchases a new keyboard.

I don't get it....they are obviously doing something wrong...why give them clues on how to make a better scam next time?
I applaud you guys for trying to alert, then stop, this person, but at the point it is obvious they are a scammer, why tell them HOW you know?

I always like to keep that part to myself so they keep making the same mistakes.....no desire to educate crooks who want to remain crooked.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

    Here was her last reply:

"Yes, because as I have already explained to you in case you are too dumb to read. The coin was appraised and when I divorced my x husband he smacked the damn case and I tried to read the numbers off the case but as you are so rudely to point out that maybe I did not read the numbers correctly since the damn case is smashed and the label is obviously ruined but I did the best I could and if you do not like that then go to hell. Stop emailing me or I will definitely have a good harassment suit."

    I responded with:

"Thank you for correcting this auction. Good night."

Yes, but I wouldn't worry about it. She did a lot of name calling in the second email I got from her and threatened me as she said " I am licensed so I can file myself." I on the other hand I was very polite and didn't make any accusations. My reply was "No problem, and that I would think as a legal assistant, you would know better." She replied to this one as well and changed her tune considerably, and was actually somewhat cordial. All in all, a good bit of fun on an otherwise slow evening.
