Welcome Cameo - please stick around,I'm sure you will enjoy. Your coin looks Almost Uncirculated to me - looking at the bow and ribbon on the shoulder and the high point of the cheek there seems to be a little wear - but I could be very wrong, nice coin though.

Thanks for your quick reply! I'm actually in the process of upgrading, since high-grade reds are still relatively affordable. Just wanted to make sure I didn't get fleeced while selling this one. image

I would say MS63 BN. The key area to look on these is the eyebrow. If there isn't wear on that then the coin is Unc.

Part of my problem is I don't have any certified MS-6x from the same era to compare, so I don't really know what a complete eyebrow should look like. Another reason to get some certified coins..

I don't know much about Canadians , but this same Colonial George V portrait is on British Cyprus coins. I tend to agree with shep, an AU58 with ms61+ eye appeal perhaps.

The best I would give this is an EF. Try the Canadian site, people there can give you a reasonably accurate grade considering all they have to go on is a scan.

I think the best place to go for grade requests, is U.S. sites like this one for U.S. coins, and Canadian sites like this one for Canadian coins.

    I hope this helps.

I would grade it AU50, there is definitely wear on this coin, as evidenced by the visible wear on the King's cheek, and by the multiple abrasions on the reverse. Nice coin though.

After looking at the coin again. I would say AU55-58

Are you "Cameo" from the eBay chat board or another "Cameo?"

AU-55 was my first impression, but it might go 58.

I wasn't aware of another "Cameo". But then I wasn't even aware of the eBay chat board. Is that a popular place for coin folks like us? This (Collectors Universe) is the first board on coins that I've joined. Are there bigger ones out there?

BTW, thanks for everybody's input! image

I agree with the others that the coin is an AU50ish. image

58 without the corrosion, and AU55 at best with it.
