I looked at about 150 mint sets and I don't think I found a single 2003 D Jefferson worth sending in. Congrats on a toughie.

Even the 66 you made is only a pop 4 now. Nice submission.

Thanks, that was my first MS69 Lincoln. Not really a hard one, just find on that is perfect, litterally. I thought it had a shot at MS70. I though I had an MS69 Sac as well but I guess not.

Excellent eye! I'll bet there are a few moderns dealers wringing their hands and cussing under their breath right now. image The door has been opened. Sell that sucker, quick!

Russ, its a pop 1 coin with 4 in the grade lower. The door is not open this is one very tough coin to find. People have been trying to hit this for over a year now an no one has.

It happens all the time. One finally gets made, and suddenly the pop starts growing. I'm not disagreeing that it's a tough coin, and it's a fantastic achievement to be first. But, the PCGS pops tend to start moving once they finally grade the first.

Congrats! Now sell, before the rest of us send in some nickels for MS70. Russ is correct. I had a 1996 PR70DCAM that was pop 2. The overwhelming majority of forum members advised selling, and I did. I got $2,750 for it and now there are more. Same thing with the West Point dollar, etc. Unless you need it in your collection, get the profit and buy more coins!

GottaGetCoins: it means that there is only one specimen in the PCGS population report for that particular coin

Brian: Way to go!! I remember a thread last month where you predicted you would grade that coin in that grade and I essentially retorted that if it was anyone other than you making that claim, I'd say you were crazy!! Keep up the great work!

    great find indeed.....

I hope Russ isnt right, but I have to say I watched it happen very quickly with the statehood proofs..I know it sounds stupid but its like they milk the coin then suddenly the pop ignites.

I did however hear someone mention that was due to one seeing someone made a killing with a certain coin and everyone else trys to cash in the same way.

either way, wayyyyyyyyyyyyy to go baby

............and i call it the "Inherent Danger" of modern issues, once the higher grade limit is cracked, the searching begins in earnest with the thinking being that if there's one.............

the real losers in value will be the MS66FS coins. sometimes it's beneficial to not advertise this type of submission success.

Congrats! The junk I got from the mint doesn't have a single coin worth sending in for grading.

Modern nickels are incredibly tough. They come three ways: terrible strike, excessive marking, or both.

    Nice work.
