I had inherited a coin collection from my Grandpa, bought a Coin World, looked everything up, bought a Redbook, personally graded all my coins and thought i knew everything about Morgan Silver Dollars and could grade them professionally
, then i saw where a 1999 -p Pennsylvania quarter in ms67 was $400, so i bought a $1000 bag, joined PCGS so i could have them graded and make a killing
....Got into several "heated" discussions here because i was an "expert Collector"....Was accused of being JMWarren, (whom i had never heard of) got tottaly LAMBASTED at every turn....well i finally got so humiliated that i didn't post here at all, didn't find it any better on the "open Forum" and was so humiliated that i almost gave up.....Now during that first month or so, i thought a PCI,ANACS, it didn't matter what the holder was, the grade commanded the price in the price guide.........Well i guess you can say "tough love" as i now choose to view the way you' all (my friends) showed me has elevated my knowledge and "quality" of our collection.... I now have a fantastic Morgan Collection that i still continue to learn about and improve the quality of...mainly due to you all teaching me, and selling me great coins, that anyone would be proud to have......BUT DAMN< I REMEMBER those first few weeks!!!!!!!
I even grew to trust this group (after the tough love) that i ask everyones opinion on buying a $1250 coin and after everyones opinion purchased the most expensive coin i have ever bought....1862 NGC ms 66 IHP........
The point is....when i was a Newbie i innocently came here and expected everyone to be the same as me......It just took this Dumbass hillbilly a little longer to learn and trust this group, i don't know the circumstances behind the infamous thread now posted about newbies....but i can tell ya, i've been there and l am glad you all stuck with me and showed me that "tough Love" so i can now say i know at least allitte bit about what i'm talkin about, buyin, and collectin, and know i can come here and get some of the greatest advice there is anywhere!!!!!!
Just my little story.....Thanks Guys and Gals!!!!!
