  • I only got 2 display cases for local shows for Christmas. I told my family to NOT get me anything related to coins as I know it would not be what I want. The gold colored display cases are perfect.

Prob'ly the 1800 NGC MS63 Maundy penny I won in a Darkside trivia
contest from Northeast Numismatics. For you Litesiders who are unfamiliar with 'em,
the Maundy pennies are teeny little things, barely bigger than an
aspirin tablet. In fact, the white insert of an NGC slab rather
"swallows up" the poor li'l thing- 'twould look better in clear PCGS
plastic, but who'm I to complain?
Nicest giveaway I've won in some time-thanks, NEN!

    Honorable mention:

    1) The following free "holeys", from Rittenhouse:
Silver trime, hole thru date 1875 dime (nice one, too) 1920 dime (double-holed and engraved with somebody's initials)1842 Half Penny, Bank of Canada (sweet, but I already had an AU penny of the same type on the vest)1858 FE Cent (would have been a real hearbreaker- high grade, but sloppy hole)Chinese Cash (the original holey)
The trime was better than the one I had on the vest, but since I can't make out the date, it and the other coins are on my keychain, now. One can never have too many holey coins, LOL

    2) The totally unexpected gift of three wonderful Dominican Republic silver coins, holed of course, for my vest. Three different denominations, all dated 1897-A, and such a well-matched set that it is obvious they've been together as a set for 100 years or so- they are all very neatly holed at 12:00 and were plainly used in jewelry, but otherwise are nice looking circulated pieces with exactly the "look" I go for in Holey Vest coins. 'Twas coinlieutenant who sent me these, out of the blue, after sending me a PM saying something like "I need to update your address in my Palm Pilot", or somethin' like that. What a sneaky way to get my addy and surprise me! image

  • My only coin present was a big box full of rolls of new quarters.
  • MERRY CHRISTMAS! MY HUSBAND SURPRISED ME WITH A GOLD INDIAN 1926 $2.50 PIECE IN PCGS MS63. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL COIN. LAST WEEK I HAD THIS COIN ON HOLD AT MY LOCAL DEALER, (GREAT GUY). THEN I CALLED HIM ON TUESDAY AND EXPLAINED I JUST COULD NOT SWING THE PURCHASE AT THIS TIME. WELL MY "BETTER HALF" GOT WIND OF THIS AND PURCHASED THE COIN FOR MY CHRISTMAS PRESENT. I've seen those Buffalo nickel belts around (usually with more than 4 coins, though- you must be skinny!), and I would love to find one.
