1955 Franklin "Bugs Bunny"

  The VAM numbers are for Morgan and Peace silver dollars, not Franklin haves.
  
  The 1955 "Bugs Bunny" is die state, not a variety. It came from clash marks that resulted when the dies came together without a planchet between them. The "fangs" are from the eagle's wing on the reverse.

  Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

  I didn't know there were VAM designations for Franklins.
  
  I almost think I remember seeing a PCGS or NGC slab with Bugs Bunny on it. I might just be imagining this, though.
  
  You know, there's BB's for probably all the Franklin years, not just '55, by the way.

  I guess I should have asked if Bugs Bunny was a recognized variety. I was not aware that VAM was not used for those coins. I learned something here today!

  I had another one in a plain MS 64 FBL holder. They both brought about the same price on eBay so it looks like having Bugs on the holder helped the price. This clash happened other years but is most common in 1955.

  I have one, a 55 and it is full obverse toned orange. I intend to keep it as I thought a carrot colored Bugs Bunny was kind of neat.
  
  It's raw, but now that I see you can get it slabbed with the Bugs designation, I think it will have to go to PCGS.

  I have what I call my Dracula Frankie, just took a pic of her.

  Family, kids, coins, sports (playing not watching), jet skiing, wakeboarding, Big Air....no one ever got hurt in the air....its the sudden stop that hurts. I hate Hurricane Sandy. I hate FEMA and i hate the blasted insurance companies.

  I think this clashing shows up on afew other dates, but those are not as common as the '55. I have seen a 1952. VAMs are limited to Morgan and Peace Dollars.
