This weekend I took out $185 in coins from my bank. My biggest (and I use that term loosely) finds were 4 lincoln cents with die cracks/scratches. None of them were very big scratches, but it was fun to find them. No premium, but I threw them into 2x2 and popped them in my box anyway. Now I just have to roll all those coins again.
I think it would be hard to tell for sure without seeing it up close. Can you describe the "cut"? Is it shiny and fresh looking, or does it look similar to the rest of the coin? It there metal built up on the edges of the cut?
hockeyman Is the defect below the surface, or is it raised above the surface?

If below the surface, then I believe it is just a scratch.
