I'd certainly trade in 15 junk silver dollars for a double eagle.
1. It is the most reflective metal (mirrors and solar furnaces).
2. It is the most photo sensitive metal (film, solar cells).
3. It has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal (superconductors, batteries).
4. It has the highest thermal conductivity of any metal (heat exchangers).
Plus it is a very effective and safe biocide (kills germs, mold, etc. on contact, but is basically harmless to humans).
Whaaa??? You have a source to back that up?
As far as I know, even if you tried to purposely make gold radioactive, most gold isotopes have a very short half-life.
Here ya go, little tid bit:::::: http://education.jlab.org/itselemental/ele079.htmlercoin...:
If I had to guess (which I do because I'm too lazy to research it
And I'd guess the reason they use a gold isotope (instead of another metal) is not because gold is expensive and pretty, but because it's non-toxic, and one of the safer metals you can put into your body.
Got another source?
Not that it matters to me personally, I collect clad coins.

Silver (like tin/lead solders) will form dendrites when exposed to the elements. Gold does not.
<< <i>20:1 or 30:1 seems like a reasonable gold to silver ratio. For what it's worth, there is less silver available right now than gold. It would take less than a Trillion dollars to buy up all the excess silver at even $10/oz. The US has been selling off or minting from its silver stockpiles since the 1940's. It is finally 100% depleted. The US is now a buyer on the open market. Silver stockpiles are very thin and production takes 1-3 years to get moving again. The whole situation is like a powder keg waiting to go off. When it does light off, expect silver to outperform gold at some point due to the extra leverage potential it has.

100% correct. When people realize the manipulation that has taken place in the silver market, demand will rise and silver will hit heights few can imagine. Forget about the gold rush.....all that glitters is silver! 10:1 ratio before the end of the decade. I'm buying until silver goes over $12.00 an ounce.

oh back to your question - yes sometime, but I may not live to see it.
As gold is fully demonitized over the next century, you are likely to see its price drop towards its historical ratio with silver. So, it will not be so much a matter of silver "hitting" the ratio as gold dropping back.
