Grades in on my Barber submission - nice results!

This was my first ever submission and no body bags! That's pretty exciting by itself. This submission was the result of the B&M promotion over the summer.

1903-S Barber dime hoped for: at least a VF25 grade: VF35 I'm thrilled with this! I purchased this from Tyler (ARCO).

1900 Barber dime Expected: AU-MS62 grade: MS64!! This is really cool. I puchased this on Ebay for $62 as an AU+. It has really nice toning and is the favorite coin in my collection. I posted images a few months back and several people thought the toning looked questionnable and that it may have suffered a previous light cleaning. I'm happy to report otherwise!

1909 Barber half Expected: VF35 grade: XF40 Cool!

1915 Barber half Expected: F18 (hoped for VF20) grade: F15 Ouch. I took it in the shorts on that one. At least it's a tougher date and slabbed now.

Overall, pretty nice results for a first timer.

Casey

3 out of 4 is awesome and at least one had a major jump from AU to MS-64. You have a good eye.

    Nice!

Congrats on the 1900 dime. It's nice to come out a winner every now and then. image

Does PCGS use F-18? I don't think they do.

    Casey,

Nice job!! I am debating sending in my 1913d Half which is currently in a NGC MS62 slab. I don't know what PCGS is looking for to achieve MS63 in the Barber halves yet, any advice? She has a weak right claw.

No such grade as F18, at least with the grading services (as far as I know). F15 is as high as you can go unless it makes VF20. So your coin might have gotten an "F18", if such a grade were ever given out.

Sounds like you did pretty well for yourself, especially makin' a 64 on that dime.

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I clearly didn't do my homework on the F15 - VF20 range!

Excellent news Tom. The dealer had the 1903-S listed as a VF/XF. I thought they were being to liberal and it really graded a paltry VF20. Man I must be in some 1950's grading time warp. LOL

Hold on to that 03-S, it is now slabbed by a reputable service and is one of the sought after Keys of the dime series.

    Glad to hear it!

If that hurt, you had better toughen up before your next submission. When the real beating comes, we may lose you altogether. image
