That's a great looking coin, and a great photo as well.

I've been thinking about getting into Canadian coins a little bit myself. I don't really know where to start, though. I wonder if this is how someone just starting out in coin collecting feels?

Those are cool - the velvet lined cases they came in appear to have reacted with the coins - I have a centenial proof set where most of the coins have pretty wild toning image

Nice one!imageimage I picked up a couple of 1967 Canadian dollars a couple of months ago ( MS business strikes ). One of them is one that the dealer recommended. It`s a PL with an abrasion below the neck of the goose. It`s a really cool abrasion though because if you have it in the sunlight and have at the right angle, it gives off a cool rainbow effect. A neat and cool coin that cost only $7.00 and is worth every penny. image

    IMO! Toned coins are evil.
    All toned coins.
Why would anyone want a silver coin to be anything but silver?
I will never understand this obsession.
Give me a bright white, fully lusterous PQ Morgan any day of the week over some nasty toned specimen.
I want the coin to look as close to the day it was minted as possible.

Wow!! I think as US coin values climb into the stratosphere, collectors may look North to Canada for a lower priced alternative. I will.

Most of my coins are white and lusterous but the toning on this appealed to me and it was cheap. Win-win situation.

Canadian proof dollars from the 70s have a tendancy to have toning like this because of the aforementioned velvet case (you can see some toning on the obverse from tiny lashes of the velvet directly on the coin).

Give one of these puppies a shot... c'mon... I dare you image

Nice. I can even see the security threads on the obverse.
