Can dipping a coin create a PL or DMPL appearance?
Does anyone know if professional dipping can strip away a coin's surface in such a way that a proof like appearance results? If so, is it possible that some PL and DMPL Morgans out there were enhanced in this manner?

My experience has been just the opposite. Dipping a coin deteriorates any mirror finish.

Not with my recent experience and I fill ripped
Had an 80-O that had heavy toning and PCGS BBed for questionable toning a couple of years ago. Then it looked like it could be PL but the toning was masking it. Thought I would try out the dipping process for the first time by sending it to NCS. Came back white and shiny of course but with defnitely PL surfaces but no PL designated on the slab by NGC
Maybe NGC is gunshy now on conserved morgans getting the PL??
