Pretty good for a first try. You might want to take your camera off of autofocus and put it on its closest manual setting. It will become really easy to get good focus pictures then, especially if your camera has an LCD screen. The effect is really apparent, check my attatchement.
If it doesnt weigh more than usual , or less than usual then its just some kind of toned coin.
I not sure if toned SQs bring a premium. Least not in my book they dont.
If you think its really cool and or unusual then by all means save it and cherish it. Collecting is about self satisfaction. Not what others say is collectible. Thats the joy of collecting. You decide whats cool and whats not.
Looks copper washed to me. In other words copper from planchets was dissolved in the acid tank they clean planchets in which in effect deposited a light layer of copper on the planchets that were washed afterward in the same solution. Similiar to copper sintered, which is baked on copper particles from the annealing furnace.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
Thanks Dog. Thats true. I forgot about that one. If it is a `copper-wash` quarter it would be slabbable as a true error. PCGS has slabbed some of those.
is there reason to get it slabbed or is it notworth the effort? i think it woudl get a high enough grade. any examples of clad missing slabs any examples of coin washed error slabs?

The quarter looks like toning to me, and I think it's kind of cool.
As a last ditch effert, you could take a stright pin and scratch the edge between two reeds.
