What are the odds...

that my 1995-S Clad mint proof set will come back with at least one coin deemed PR70? Any wagers?...image It appears to me to be FLAWLESS, the mirrors are INCREDIBLE on ALL the coins in the set. It was from the oldman's estate...Hmmh, interesting!

As I see it there are two options

    Slim

    None

If you submitted a thousand proof sets you might get a few!
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

Don't you think they will find a way to find a reason not to give you the 70?

    What they said.

If the odds weren't slim to none, people wouldn't be paying outrageous sums for PCGS 70 plastic. They'd be another ICG.

According to the Pop reports your chance of one of them grading 70 is 1.5%.

    1c-------------1.3%
    5c-------------1.2%
    10c-----------2.4%
    25c-----------1.8%
    50c-----------1.4%

    Overall------1.5%

I probably did that wrong, but it was fun playing with the calculator. image

AWW SHUCKS Russ!...Thanks! I'll take back all that bad stuff I was sayin' about ya...image

On the serious side though...I really think something will come back 70. Remember, "It's the most wonderful tiiiiiiime of the yearrrrrrr!" Even those at PCGS will have mercy during the "Yule tide"season...image

Go to the refrigerator. Open the door. Take out a beer. Close the door. Open the beer. Stand on your head against the refrigerator facing away from the appliance.... Chug the beer..... If you can chug the beer without stopping or spilling a drop -- you will get a 70.....image

    Peetie,

The figures are probably skewed. They only measure the percentages based on what was actually graded not what was submitted. It doesn't include all of the coins in bulk submissions that didn't meet the minnimum requested grade. If all of those coins had been graded then the 1.5% figure would be even smaller.
